Meet Amanda Sue Bourda

We recently connected with Amanda Sue Bourda and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Amanda Sue, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?
Too be honest… I don’t really know. I guess it’s the love I have for fashion and wanting to share that with the world. Wanting to live out my dreams and know that if I give up it will never happen. And my wife, she is one of the constant voices in my head telling me .. DONT STOP!

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
Simply put. I am a fashion designer who isn’t afraid to step out the box. I have been creating for a little over 10 yrs. I create from scratch and I do a lot of couture upcycling. I have been featured in showrooms in LA, NY,MIA. I have had garments on tv, music videos, red carpets and magazine covers.. Billy Porter, Emily Estefan, and rapper ScarLip have all worn my garments !

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Being different is a strong quality I possess. It can be a catch 22, but it still helps draw people in. People are fascinated by things they have never seen before, like my Casino dress made from playing cards! The world says don’t be afraid to be yourself. That comes with a lot. But don’t be afraid of who you are and what you’re capable of.

Tell us what your ideal client would be like?
Someone who walks to the beat of their own drum. Someone not afraid to wear something that will turn heads. Someone who doesn’t care about labels!! Fashion forward people are my clients.
