Meet Christopher Morelli

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Christopher Morelli. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Christopher, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?
I think my work ethic comes from a few places but all of them have to do with how I was raised. My parents have always been supportive of me in pretty much everything I’ve set out to do, but they’ve also always pushed me to perform at my absolute best. For instance, I can remember getting good grades in school growing up but if I didn’t get a perfect grade, they would always point out that while I was doing well, there was still room for improvement. I also went to an all boys high school. As you can imagine, as a result, everything from grades to sports, even philanthropy, was hyper competitive. As a result of these two things, I’m always looking for ways to improve and always trying to outwork everyone around me.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
My name is Christopher Morelli, but I am perhaps better known by my DJ/music producer alias, SHAMAN. I am most easily recognized by my white out eyes that I wear during my performances.

In 2020, during the COVID pandemic, I began teaching myself to produce music.

In 2022, I had my first performance under the SHAMAN brand during Bass Night at Gilt Nightclub and released his first single, a heavy dubstep track titled “Demon Kings”. Since beginning the SHAMAN project, the focus of the project has shifted; from heavy dubstep to more free-form/ experimental bass music marked by a unique sound combining instrumental melodies with experimental bass that will be on display in future releases beginning this year with my next single “Symphony of the Fae” which will be released in the next few months.

I also have a number of live performances coming up beginning with Groove Cruise at the end of January. During February, I will be performing at the Dancefestopia Yellow Brick Road Tour stop in Orlando on February 17th at the Tavern East Orlando followed by the Wooks of Wall Street presents: Drop Exchange on February 21st. If you’re local to central Florida please come out to the February events and support all the super talented artists that will be performing!

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
I think the single most important impactful part of my journey has been the people I have surrounded myself with. Without my friends, family, and a carefully cultivated network of other professionals I would never have made it this far. Surround yourself with good spirited, ambitious, caring people. Your friends and family should be supportive but also always push you to do and be better and help you to stay true to yourself throughout the process.

The second quality I think is very important is drive. Whatever it is that you want to do, pursue it relentlessly. That way, even if you fail, it can’t be said it was because you didn’t give it your all.

Lastly remembering to stay grounded and grateful is extremely important. It’s easy to get wrapped up in the hustle culture and always being focused on the work but what’s the point if you don’t take the opportunity to stop to enjoy and be greatful for the fruits of all your labor.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?
I would love to collaborate with more artists in the upcoming year. Any music artist that specialize in experimental bass music should feel free to reach out and let’s see if our sounds/styles mesh and we can make some magic. I am also actively looking for artists that specialize in VJ loops and 3-D rendering to collaborate with to create visuals for my sets.
