Meet Charis Johnson

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Charis Johnson a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Charis, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
I was a young mother and was determined to show my sons that nothing was impossible. There is hunger that drives me to provide the best life for them while teaching them that adversity gives you strength. I like to lead by example and I showed them that life is 80% mental and 20% physical. If you tell yourself you’re going to fail before you even begin then you’ve already failed. They watched me start my own business while still working a full time job and never missed a football game or school program. They are still my motivation.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I primarily work with first time home buyers, the process can be overwhelming and I like to provide a safe space. I am committed to providing exceptional service in real estate by educating my clients about the home buying process. Going the extra mile for my clients with my in-depth knowledge of the ever changing real estate market. Communication plays a huge role in the service I provide and keep my clients informed every step of the way. Planning a free home buyers seminar with a focus on credit repair this spring March 2024, currently putting it together now.
I like to keep people informed and this is for anyone who wants to buy but doesn’t know how to start.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Three of the most important qualities are communication, market knowledge and adaptability. Effective communication is crucial in real estate. There is a need to articulate information clearly to clients, be able to understand their needs, and advocate for your clients.
Market knowledge is ever changing so one must stay up to date. This doesn’t mean watch hours of CNN but stay informed on neighborhood changes, rate changes, legal regulations and new programs available.
Every client has different needs and preferences, being adaptable and adjusting strategies is necessary. Flexibility helps navigate challenges and capitalize on opportunities.
The best advice for anyone starting on this journey is to stay coachable, there is lot to learn and it can be overwhelming. Do not try to do all the things, find what works for you but incorporate these three qualities.

The Go – Giver by Bob Burg and John David Mann is a very powerful, it encourages a mindset shift towards generosity, value creation, and building mutually beneficial relationships as a path to success. The five laws of stratospheric success are law of value, compensation, influence, authenticity, and receptivity contribute to the idea that success comes from giving and creating positive, meaningful connections.
The biggest nugget for me was authenticity, as a transplant to Houston with no family or friends, I just knew real estate was going to be hard. I created a lane for myself by staying true to my values of providing service. My goal is to make home ownership possible for everyone but especially the ones who don’t believe it’s attainable.
