We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Jenna Borrelli a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Jenna , thank you for joining us today and sharing your experiences and acquired wisdom with us. Burnout is a huge topic these days and so we’d love to kick things off by discussing your thoughts on overcoming or avoiding burnout
I’ve been in & out of burn out for about 10 years of my life, and I feel like I am finally on the other side of that challenge, while also nurturing a business helping others overcome and prevent burnout. I look at burnout as both a holistic and targeted issue, meaning you can experience full on burnout or just burnout in specific areas for your life (like your career). I have experienced both “holistic” burnout and targeted burnout. To overcome burnout, I had to learn how to prioritize restful and rejuvenating activities/experiences in my life. I had to cut out behaviors and beliefs about myself that were causing me to burnout over and over again. One of the biggest ways I helped heal my burnout was by removing alcohol from my lifestyle. I was in burnout, using alcohol to cope with the burnout, while it was actually causing the symptoms and experience to be way worse. I now know taking care of my body and mind includes evaluating what I am consuming – from TV/media to food & substances.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
The story of my business is learning how to trust and follow my intuition, and seeing where the journey takes me. It started with me becoming alcohol sober in 2021. When I removed booze from my life, my world became so much clearer. I could see what I was hiding from in my healing journey, but I could also see the beautiful rainbow of life that I was missing out on while self-medicating. Once I began my sober journey, new experiences and nudges from my intuition guided me to strengthen my knowledge and expertise in the world of spirituality, creativity, and wellness. I pursued hypnotherapy certification and continued to develop a variety of wellness-oriented & creative modalities to begin serving people like me: highly sensitive, deeply creative, and purpose-led individuals looking to create more balance & compassion in their lives.
I am a somatic hypnotherapist & wellness advisor who works with individuals and businesses in 1-1 and group settings. I teach workshops, guide meditations, and conduct 1-1 hypnotherapy & wellness coaching sessions. The areas I focus on with clients are inner child work, intuition development, sobriety recovery, and burnout prevention/recovery.
One of my signature offerings is the Inner Child Hypnosis Voyage. This is a 1-1 hypnotherapy session where I guide individuals to meet their Inner Child while embarking on an exciting journey using their imagination!
What I love most about my work is seeing the way people feel after our sessions together. People feel more relaxed and regulated while also learning how to be more compassionate and self-accepting.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
The three qualities that have helped me in my journey as a business owner and in my self-improvement journey have been: compassion, patience, and creativity. Compassion has allowed me to be kinder to myself as I navigate the challenging journey of entrepreneurship; it has allow allowed me to connect deeply and honestly with my clients, encouraging them to point compassion inwards as well. Patience has reminded me how important it is to take my time with my business and my personal healing journey – there is no rush and no need to compare myself to other people’s journeys. And finally, creativity is the quality that I pride myself in the most. I love being creative as a lifestyle. It allows me to come up with unique solutions, explore the world through different lens, and to create whatever I want for the sake of art!
What has been your biggest area of growth or improvement in the past 12 months?
The biggest area of growth in my life has been developing my trust and confidence in myself. Building self-trust and self-confidence transcends every aspect of my life. It helps me move the needle on my business. It helps me develop my skills as a wellness professional. It helps me feel more sure of myself as I develop both professional and personal relationships. Building trust & confidence with myself reminds me that I am capable of achieving anything that I truly desire in my life – and I will be the first to believe in myself.
