Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Tenya Eickenberg. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Tenya, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
I found my purpose by going through a turbulent time in 2019 with my anxiety and depression. I found myself in a place of deep despair and worry. I had a very hard time dealing with my emotions and trying to figure out just what was going on. I found myself wanting to harm myself enough that I could have a couple of days off in bed to just rest and figure things out. I played this “I’m okay” and “I’m fine” game with myself for several months. Drowning my emotions in alcohol and smoking. I was even beginning to think I may be bipolar like my mom. By March of 2020, I had finally decided to get help.
This was the beginning of the pandemic and everything was being done online. I made an appointment with a doctor through my insurance to be put on medication and with a therapist to talk about what was going on. I had been down this road before as mental illness runs in my family. I thought this was what I needed to get “over” it.
My appointment with the doctor lasted maybe 15 minutes. I told him how I was feeling except that I had thought about harming myself because I was really scared to say that outloud and I didn’t trust him yet. I told him I had been on medication before and while it worked, it didn’t work for long. He asked what I was on and we went with that. I looked back at this appointment after I healed my anxiety and depression and my mind was blown that the appointment went so quickly.
I then had an appointment with the talk therapist. The first 10-15 min was spent getting background information on how I came to make the appointment and why I felt I needed it. We then started to talk about my childhood and my family. It did feel good to talk about it, but I also hated having to talk about it. Again, I had been down this road before and it didn’t help before. I know now that I was using a past experience to judge how this one was going to go. Which made my next steps to my purpose and healing that much more intriguing.
After about 6 weeks of medication and talk therapy, I had a follow-up with the doctor who prescribed the medication. I explained that I didn’t feel much better and he wanted to raise the dose. At that point, I was done. I was tired and finished with my medications, I decided to stop taking them at that point. I sat at my desk crying asking for something to heal my body and mind from anxiety and depression, I didn’t want to just survive with it anymore.
I google “holistic emotional healing” and the one thing that stuck out was The Emotion Code. The Emotion Code is quite a fascinating concept, especially if you’re into the whole energy healing scene. Think of it as the emotional decluttering of your inner world, It’s like decluttering your closet, but instead of clothes, you’re tidying up trapped emotions. Developed by Dr. Bradley Nelson, it’s like a treasure map to uncovering and releasing the emotional baggage that you didn’t even know you were carrying around. Imagine all those times you felt a bit off but couldn’t pinpoint why—The Emotion Code suggests these feelings might be due to trapped emotions from past experiences.
I certainly was skeptical at first, but I thought, what did I have to lose by trying it? I had a couple of sessions with a practitioner and all I can say is WOW! I had not felt that much weight lifted off me ever. I felt clear, calm, and peaceful. I wanted to know more about The Emotion Code. In May of 2020, I signed up for a webinar and was hooked by the end. I signed up for my certification so I could heal myself and help my family. By the end of July, I was a certified Emotion Code and Body Code practitioner. By September of 2020, I had healed from my anxiety and depression by 80%, but something was still missing. SELF-CARE!
I added in meditation, journaling, creating boundaries, and keeping them, I paid attention to my thoughts and how I was reacting to people and situations around me. I paid closer attention to what I was putting into my body. By the end of 2020, I had healed from my anxiety and depression completely. I had found my purpose, I was to share what I had learned with other women who want to thrive instead of survive and help them to fall in love with who they are instead of who everyone else wants them to be.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I am deeply committed to guiding women on their journey to healing from chronic anxiety, using the transformative power of energy healing and self-care. It’s important to note that I am not a therapist, nor do I diagnose or prescribe medical treatments. My approach is holistic, focusing on the emotional and energetic dimensions of healing rather than medical intervention.
Each session I conduct is tailored to the individual, drawing from a range of energy healing techniques designed to clear emotional blockages, enhance relaxation, and nurture a profound sense of inner peace. Beyond these healing sessions, I emphasize the importance of self-care practices. Those self-care practices include meditation, journaling, how our thoughts create our reality, and setting boundaries. These are vital for maintaining a balance that supports not just physical well-being, but emotional and spiritual health too.
My mission extends beyond individual sessions. Through workshops, speaking engagements, and social media, I educate and raise awareness about the benefits of energy healing and self-care. I offer insights on recognizing anxiety, share the science behind energy healing, success stories from those I’ve worked with, and practical tips for incorporating self-care into their already busy lifestyle.
Ultimately, my goal is to empower women to lead happier, more harmonious lives by overcoming anxiety and embracing a holistic approach to health. While I do not offer medical advice, I believe in the power of ancient wisdom and modern techniques working together to foster healing and growth, supporting women in unlocking their full potential.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
As I look back on the path I’ve traveled, I recognize that three cornerstone practices truly made a difference in my healing journey. Taking the reins of my mental health, deeply valuing self-care as a fundamental practice rather than a mere indulgence, and maintaining an unwavering dedication to these principles transformed my life in ways I never imagined.
Initiating a proactive stance toward my mental health was the first, and perhaps most critical, step. Without this determined approach, I suspect I’d be perpetually wandering in search of solace, bouncing from one supposed cure to the next. The willingness to listen to the wisdom of those who walked before me was equally vital. I soaked up their stories, absorbed their advice, and ventured into a variety of healing modalities with curiosity and wonder.
But the real breakthrough came when I grasped the true essence of what I needed. It dawned on me that putting myself at the forefront of my life’s priorities wasn’t an act of selfishness but one of profound self-respect. Imagine being the captain of a ship navigating through stormy seas; without tending to the ship’s needs, it’s doomed to sink. This epiphany underscored the non-negotiable importance of self-care. It’s not an optional extra; it’s as critical as the air we breathe. Neglecting to ‘recharge our batteries’ doesn’t just leave us powerless—it leaves us stranded.
This adventure of self-discovery and healing didn’t just teach me how to survive; it taught me how to thrive. It reinforced that self-care and mental health aren’t just buzzwords; they are the bedrock of a fulfilled, vibrant life. And consistency? That’s the secret sauce. Like the steady drip of water that eventually fills a basin, the persistent and dedicated effort is what truly brings about transformation.
For those reading this and wanting to forge their own journey and how they can best develop their own best life…Start with self-awareness, take a step back, and assess your current mental and emotional state. It’s about getting real with oneself and acknowledging the need for change.
Embrace Self-Care as a priority, not a luxury. Be open to experimenting with different healing modalities. Be consistent in your practice and seek help from others when you get stuck. There is no shame is asking for help.
Who is your ideal client or what sort of characteristics would make someone an ideal client for you?
My ideal client stands at a crossroads, similar to the one I faced. They are navigating complex lives and seeking a path towards contentment and inner peace. They want to be where happiness is not just an occasional visitor, but a constant companion. They wish they could wake up every day with a sense of joy and serenity, embracing life as it unfolds.
These women are in search of strategies to cultivate calmness when they are faced with the storms of life. They want to learn how to say hello to fear, worry, and sadness as messages instead of as enemies. They want to have an understanding of these negative emotions and become a master of them.
My ideal client is someone who wants and craves transformation and is ready to take a leap into the journey of self-discovery and unlock the secrets of joy and happiness that they are holding on to. They seek guidance on how to become empowered to heal themselves through energy healing, meditation, emotional regulation, journaling, nutrition and so much more.
