Meet Taylor Gulizio

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Taylor Gulizio. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Taylor, thank you so much for joining us. You are such a positive person and it’s something we really admire and so we wanted to start by asking you where you think your optimism comes from?
It comes from years of work rewiring my brain to look at the positives of every situation, no matter how bad it seems. There is always a positive that comes from the negative even if it’s hard to see at first. You have to consistently remind yourself to find that positive and eventually it becomes really easy over the years to find the positive automatically without thinking about it.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I’m 26 years old and I’m an artist. I do makeup, I’m a drawer and hopefully soon am getting into tattooing. I started my TikTok Artistrybytayy in 2020, and grew a steady following doing makeup tutorials and transitions. Later in 2023 I formed Artistrybytay LLC as a local makeup artist which I do makeup applications, private lessons and classes. I’ve always been a drawer bit more recently I’ve been looking into becoming a tattoo artist. I love all forms of art, and I love trying out new forms of art. I just find that I have a very creative mind and I love to use it. It’s exciting to imagine something in your head and then see it come to life, that’s my favorite part about creating.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
I would say the 3 most important qualities to have are the ability to stay positive, the ability to adapt to new situations, and the ability to get back up after you’ve been knocked down. As long as you have the ability to do those 3 things you will always come out on top. My advice would be to be patient with yourself because forming those qualities takes time and effort, and also to believe you can do anything you want to do if you put your mind to it.

What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?
That would be them believing in me even when I had given up on believing in myself. They knew I could do anything I wanted to do before I knew that. They pushed me and supported me no matter what. I wouldn’t be half the person I am today without my parents help, and I can’t thank them enough for that!
