Meet Ofek Ariov

We were lucky to catch up with Ofek Ariov recently and have shared our conversation below.

Ofek, so excited to have you with us today. So much we can chat about, but one of the questions we are most interested in is how you have managed to keep your creativity alive.
First and foremost, my creativity stems from people – from my loved ones to people I meet while going about daily life, to passersby on the street. I highly value connecting with others and very much enjoy learning about the ways other people think and process the world. These interactions continue to inspire my thinking and my work.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
My name is Ofek Ariov, I’m a sound engineer, music producer, and drummer. As a sound engineer and producer, I work with artists on their music – from the early stages to the finished product.
It is important to me to get to know the artists before we start working so that once we begin, there is a feeling of trust and comfort, allowing us to put all of our focus into the music. The quality of the final product depends heavily on the relationships between everyone in the studio so it is important to me to connect with everyone.
One of my favorite parts of my work is getting to collaborate with an artist to develop their first album or single. I love the journey of finding a sound aesthetic and having the freedom to explore endless sound possibilities.
I am drawn to projects with real instruments and I appreciate the human element in music. Nevertheless, I’m always eager to work on new projects in any genre.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Patience – it is important to practice patience both with time and people. Life is a journey and things take time. Patience with people involves respecting and valuing them and is evident in the final product.

Creativity – Being adaptable, solution-oriented, and resourceful are integral elements within collaborations and creativity.

Stay curious – always be open to learning from other people and never stop asking questions. remember that no idea is a bad idea, encourage others to speak and hold space for their visions, and don’t be afraid to try new things or change direction.

The best advice I can give to folks who are early in their journey is: surround yourself with people who lift you up and inspire you to be better. Don’t be lazy, Give every project you are involved in your all.

What has been your biggest area of growth or improvement in the past 12 months?
The studio I worked at and loved recently closed, which forced me to pivot and learn how to manage my time, clients, and projects independently by opening my own studio.
