Meet Inioluwa Alabi

We were lucky to catch up with Inioluwa Alabi recently and have shared our conversation below.

Inioluwa, appreciate you making time for us and sharing your wisdom with the community. So many of us go through similar pain points throughout our journeys and so hearing about how others overcame obstacles can be helpful. One of those struggles is keeping creativity alive despite all the stresses, challenges and problems we might be dealing with. How do you keep your creativity alive?
There’s a saying that goes “Creativity feeds off of Creativity”, so I keep my creative fire burning by exposing myself to other forms of Creativity, we live in a world that is void of “no inspiration”, you can be inspired by anything and everything, you just have to apply your heart to it, so I listen to music, watch cartoons, look up visually compelling images and even go through my own art sometimes.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
Hi, my name is Inioluwa Alabi I’m a multi disciplinary artist based in Nigeria, I create digital visually compelling art that expresses the beauty in my African culture through the use of vibrant colors shapes and patterns. My work uses vibrant colors to tell stories and evoke the emotion of the viewer(s) and thus leaving them inspired.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back, I would be more focused on achieving specific goals and not just hoping for the best, I’m recently learning something I call a “scorer’s mentality”, see in football dribbling is not scoring, it takes a good dribble to score but dribbling itself is not scoring, and a lot of times in life we want specific things to happen but are sometimes not taking specific actions towards what we’re trying to achieve, we hope that by being on the pitch and by maybe even being the best dribbler we may score, but if you don’t focus on scoring which in this case is hitting certain goals and taking specific steps to do that, you might just dribble your way to losing the game. I’ve just learnt to me more specific, that we’re really not in control of the goals, but we contribute a great deal to how the game goes.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
Yes, I would love to collaborate with other artists and photographers with unique styles, to make some beautiful compelling art!, Also some really amazing brands that share similar values with my work like Nike, Adidas, Drew basically fashion brands, I really love drew cause yellow is my favorite color so I’m kinda bias towards that but yeah, that would be really cool !, Would also love to work with singers, upcoming artists on their art project, I really love music and I’m passionate about making art for these purposes.
