Meet MakeupFacepaint

We recently connected with MakeupFacepaint and have shared our conversation below.

MakeupFacepaint, appreciate you making time for us and sharing your wisdom with the community. So many of us go through similar pain points throughout our journeys and so hearing about how others overcame obstacles can be helpful. One of those struggles is keeping creativity alive despite all the stresses, challenges and problems we might be dealing with. How do you keep your creativity alive?
God has Blessed me with many Gifts! Creativity is the gift I’m most passionate about. As a creative, my imagination is constantly evolving and cultivating new ideas. With such an imaginative mind, I’m continually envisioning artistic ways to enhance my creativity and making my visions come to life!

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
MakeupFacepaint is my Brand that depicts the most Artistic side of myself. I have truly been Blessed with a skill set that is truly my Passion and allows me to live in Purpose. Being able to make my clients feel and look like their best selves as well as replicate a look with my own flair and signature style is truly fulfilling. Creating special effects looks really elevates my innovativeness and I often surprise myself with making certain designs come to life. This year I plan to make more content teaching my step by step process and evolving my YouTube Channel and Instagram page into a MakeupFacepaint Creativity Studio where people can watch and learn how to create their own looks too!

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back, I was able to gain a lot of knowledge from working in popular Makeup Stores that really helped me sharpen my skills and learn how to service a diverse clientele. During my previous employment at Sephora and MAC Cosmetics, I was exposed to many different brands of make up, tools, techniques, and overall service experience. This helped me learn how to shape MakeupFacepaint and I strive to build my brand into a household name as well. My advice to anyone who is early in their journey, is to learn and practice as much as you can to develop your passion into something that can grow and evolve; the sky is the limit! When I first started out, I spent hours watching YouTube, practicing looks on myself, my family, my friends, as well as taking plenty of pictures and videos, so I can document my progress. Today’s society doesn’t always see the beauty in growth because a lot of things are instant and readily accessible which can form impatience but the more you practice, the more you optimize your brand and elevate your expertise.

Looking back over the past 12 months or so, what do you think has been your biggest area of improvement or growth?
My biggest area of growth over the past 12 months has definitely been letting go of fear. 2 Timothy 1:7 (ASV) reads “For God gave us not a spirit of fearfulness; but of power and love and discipline”. It can be intimidating scrolling through social media and seeing so many people do the same thing that you do and get a lot of likes and views, and you don’t get nearly as much when you post. Fear tried to creep in and intimidate me to the point where I didn’t want to create at all, and for a creative like myself, being apprehensive to display my work started making me feel less confident. Continuously praying to God made me remember this scripture and realize fear is not a Blessing from God. My gifts are a Blessing, and I must be a good steward to my resources and talents. Over this last year, I have let go of fear. I have trusted God fully, and he has opened many doors for me. I can only imagine what God has in store for myself and my brand over the next 12 months!
