Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Angélica Flores. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Angélica, we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?
Well, for me, confidence and self-esteem is something that is constantly developing. I don’t think there is a goal to reach, but rather a path that is built over time. I like to visualize confidence and self-esteem as “plants” that I nourish with different practices and tools every day. Some of those practices or tools have been exposing myself to new experiences that take me out of my comfort zone, sharing my knowledge with other people, creating different self-care routines such as exercising, dancing, eating delicious and healthy meals, sharing with people I love, practicing silence, writing what I feel, going to the beach, and meditating. Each stage and process of my life has required a different practice or tool to cultivate confidence and self-esteem. I think there is always space to discover new ways to nourish those “little plants”, but it depends on the individual needs of each person. My recommendation is to do consciously self-knowledge exercises and explore different ways to feel good.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I consider myself a creative and dynamic person. I like to explore new paths and discover my purpose again and again. In 2018, I quit a full-time job as an administrative assistant, and since then, many doors of possibilities have opened for me. This is how I became a life coach, speaker and writer.
As a life coach, I help people develop a conscious self-image and design a balanced lifestyle that allows them to enjoy who they are, what they do and all that they have. The most I enjoy from this, is seeing the transformation of people as they discover their unlimited potential to manifest a better version of themselves. That is a great gift for me as a life coach. When I am in my role as a speaker, it fills me with satisfaction to know that I am sowing seeds of change and curiosity in each person with whom I interact through my speech. I think there is magic in the evolution process of every human being, and being part of that is a privilege.
As a writer, I really enjoy being the voice of those who cannot or do not know how to express themselves as they would like. Writing is one of my favorite tools to know myself, heal and get back to me. Through writing, I have been able to connect with people from different parts of the world and I like to think that my notebook or my laptop screen are a kind of microphone that can be heard in every corner where my notes reach. It is fascinating what writing allows me to experience, be and receive.
Currently I offer 1:1 coaching and mentoring services, I give workshops and conferences on image, healthy lifestyle and well-being, and I do special events where I share different well-being practices for personal development. I will soon be publishing a self-help book, based on my personal story, in which readers will be able to find reflection exercises, lessons from my path and different tools to design their own recipe for personal transformation.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
I think the qualities or skills that have most impacted my journey have been self-confidence, perseverance, and resilience. My recommendation for other people is to constantly get to know themselves, to be curious about themselves and to allow themselves to see each stage of their life like a TV series in which the characters, stories, events and endings change. But the most important thing is that they remember that in that series, they are the directors, so they can make all the changes they want to make each episode fun, energizing, and always lead them to a better scenario to grow. I think it is very important to trust, persevere and train our ability to adapt to changes and receive them with openness, always remembering that every experience in life brings a lesson and an opportunity to be a better version of ourselves.
Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?
When I feel overwhelmed I like to dance, go for a walk in nature or share with people who nourish me mentally, physically and spiritually. Having a support network is very important, not only for times of difficulty, but to celebrate achievements and boost our well-being.
