Meet Roxanne Vogel

We were lucky to catch up with Roxanne Vogel recently and have shared our conversation below.

Roxanne , we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
My resilience comes from my mother. I learned from a very young age not to make excuses and that I had to do what needed to be done in order to achieve. I watched my mother work hard as a single mother and business owner to support our family. She constantly pushed me and my siblings to do better and be better. Having someone behind you pushing you that never gives up builds your own intrinsic resilience, for me that was my mom.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I am currently the owner of three Playa Bowls franchises as well as an Orangetheory Fitness instructor. Growing through young adulthood in Miami Dade, I was excited to be the first franchisee to bring the Playa Bowls brand to Miami.

The most exciting thing about the Playa Bowls brand and building my businesses is that the brand is fun, working in the store is fun, and the food is amazing. Everyone who steps into our doors loves the experience and that feels good.

Soon I’ll be opening up my third shop in Weston, FL!

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Critical thinking skills, experience in the food and hospitality industry, and resilience.

My advice for folks early in their journey would be to be a sponge and take the time to learn from everyone around you, even if the things you’re learning are how not to do things. Listen and be accepting of constructive feedback and be willing to grow from it. Put yourself out there. Aim high, because if you haven’t failed, you haven’t reached high enough. Keep pushing, keep going, work hard, and don’t give up.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
Playa Bowls is always looking to partner and collaborate with others. From spreading positivity and kindness through your brand, to fueling your body in the best way possible through fitness or health, we love working with others to create enjoyable experiences that leave people wanting to come back for more. We work with gyms, nutritionists, student groups, wellness brands, and beachwear brands, just to name a few. If you want to collaborate with us, reach out to [email protected]!
