Meet LaRon Mapp

We recently connected with LaRon Mapp and have shared our conversation below.

LaRon, thank you so much for joining us today. Let’s jump right into something we’re really interested in hearing about from you – being the only one in the room. So many of us find ourselves as the only woman in the room, the only immigrant or the only artist in the room, etc. Can you talk to us about how you have learned to be effective and successful in situations where you are the only one in the room like you?
I think my confidence is something that resonates wherever I am, It doesn’t matter where I am or who I am around the ability to articulate myself, show compassion and be a great listener is something I truly take pride in.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
My name is LaRon Mapp. I am the Director/Head Coach of EEP Basketball.

We are an AAU Basketball program based out of Brooklyn, NY and we service over 100 kids per year. We travel across the country playing in competitive tournaments and circuits and we have a tremendous group of kids who come from a great family background.

Our moniker is we are “The Ivy League of AAU”
as our players have to maintain a B+ average to be eligible to play.

We are a fully sponsored program and all that we ask for is a Full Commitment from our parents and players.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Three qualities or skills that I feel that has been the ability to listen, adapt and resourcefulness. I think these attributes are important in a every aspect of life because it’s mainly about managing and fostering relationships.
We live in a such a competitive world, people need to understand to importance of being adaptable, embrace being uncomfortable..

How can folks who want to work with you connect?
Always looking to collaborate and work with like minded individuals who are passionate and are have a vision. People who are willing to embrace discomfort and are eager to be the best!!
