We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Maurice & Kimberly Sanchez. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Maurice & Kimberly below.
Hi Maurice & Kimberly, so happy to have you with us today and there is so much we want to ask you about. So many of us go through similar pain points throughout our journeys and so hearing about how others developed certain skills or qualities that we are struggling with can be helpful. Along those lines, we’d love to hear from you about how you developed your ability to take risk?
We developed our ability to take risks by not overthinking and not being afraid to fail. A lot of people are afraid to fail, but if you never take the risk, you’ll never know the outcome. Taking a risk is part of growing & if you fail it’s not considered a loss, it’s considered a lesson.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
Hello everyone, we are Maurice & Kimberly Sanchez, a husband and wife duo. We started our business in 2022, by selling homemade desserts from home. We later, began doing pop ups and expanded our menu to new desserts such as churro cheesecake, banana pudding & mini pancakes. Ever since we started doing pop ups, we get excited to be able to expand our desserts to new city’s and be able to satisfy every customers sweet tooth. We definitely have some new desserts in the works right now, so keep an eye out for that!
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Excellent customer service is very important if you want people to continue supporting your business. Presentation and marketing has to be on point to attract customers. Discipline is key when running your own business because you are in charge and if you slack off, your business will reflect that. My advice for entrepreneurs early in their journey is to stay consistent and be patient. All the hard work you put in will pay off just trust the process.
What has been your biggest area of growth or improvement in the past 12 months?
Our presentation has been our biggest growth and improvement in these past months. When we first started our business, we did what we could with what we had. We knew that in order to be where we wanted to be, we needed to invest into our business so we worked hard for a couple months and then started improving our presentation little by little. When we finally had everything branded such as our canopy, menu, and logo, we noticed such a huge difference in our growth.
