Meet Jimmy Good

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jimmy Good. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Jimmy, so happy to have you with us today and there is so much we want to ask you about. So many of us go through similar pain points throughout our journeys and so hearing about how others developed certain skills or qualities that we are struggling with can be helpful. Along those lines, we’d love to hear from you about how you developed your ability to take risk?
Back in 2020, I took a trip out to California from my home state of Minnesota. It was one of my “reconnaissance” voyages to help figure out if pursuing my dream of acting was even feasible. I recall meeting with a few contacts out in L.A. that had offered up some direction, but I still felt pretty unsure. Also, this was in March of 2020 and I was beginning to hear the rumblings of something that was going to change the world. The nice thing about investigating anything is that it demystifies that very thing. Once you see a place, find out how a job operates, or ask specific questions, you can often develop a better picture in your mind’s eye. It also really helped that I had added on a few days at Disneyland at the end of my trip. I will never forget walking into that hotel after a week of sleeping on a couch and feeling a wave of relief! Don’t get me wrong, I was thrilled that a friend let me stay with them while I was out searching, but theme parks have always felt like a safe harbor to me. Briefly after that trip, I was pretty much landlocked in Minnesota until August of 2021. By then, I knew I had to take the chance and go for it. Failure or rejection are so much easier to live with than the regret of the “What could have been”. Now, I am almost 3 years into living out here in California (somehow). While not every single day feels like I’m “making it”, I do my best to stay persistent, positive, and to persevere!

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I am an actor that has worked both theatrically and commercially! It has been a real joy and eye-opening experience to see just how movies/commercials are made. Right now, I am hunting for a manager and agent to take some big steps forward in 2024 (if you know anyone have your people call my people)! As of this writing, if you have ever seen a commercial for Simple Green you may have seen my face or heard my voice. Absolutely love working with those folks!

Also, I spend a vast amount of time running my own YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/c/jimmygoodyt) and Twitch (https://www.twitch.tv/jimmygoodyt) channels. Primarily, I focus on vlogging/covering theme parks on YouTube (surprise surprise) with an emphasis on Disneyland and Universal Studios Hollywood. I have been doing a lot to try and grow that area of my life and it has brought so many wonderful people into my life. Along with all of that, I manage my own Patreon, TikTok, and Instagram coupled with the fact that I also edit all of my own videos. Somedays, I feel like a 1 man band!

My main goal in life is to entertain people. Make them smile and forget for awhile. I like to think that’s reflected in whatever I do.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Communication. Perspective. Connection.

Admittedly, I am a work in progress. Always will be! But, here are three aspects that I think are important no matter what you are doing. Being able to effectively communicate with possible future collaborators, family, or even yourself is very important. I do what I can to be very intentional with people and to make actual bonds with them as opposed to just utilizing them for what they could do for me. Everyone is important! I also am constantly humbling myself (I’m working on it), but maintaining a perspective on life is key too. I try to focus on things I am grateful for such as: my family, my health, my living situation, technology, and the list goes on. There are so many positive things in my life I try not to take for granted and keeping that perspective is important to me. Lastly, connection. I sort of touched on this before, but developing and fostering your inner circle is more important than ANYTHING. Who is your council? Who can you truly trust? Who loves and cares about you for YOU? Find those people or just take note of who they are. I can tell you that without the ability to ask for guidance from my chosen I am not sure where I would be or if I would still be doing what I’m doing!

If you are just beginning your journey, remember that you always have been. This is just the next step. You have been building up to this. To me, acknowledging your aspirations and moving forward with as much kindness as possible is the best thing you can do. Be kind to the process, others, and definitely yourself. Although we have never met, if you are reading this know that I BELIEVE in you! Go forth! Perhaps one day our paths will cross and I so hope they do!

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
Like I mentioned before, I am trying to find an acting or voice acting manager here in 2024. The hope is that if I can foster a great relationship with one, we can find a talent agency together to work with and then we are off to the races! If anyone reading this happens to know anyone or of any reputable managing agencies, please feel free to reach out ([email protected]).
