Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Steffi Reyes-Thomas. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Steffi, you’ve got such an interesting story, but before we jump into that, let’s first talk about a topic near and dear to us – generosity. We think success, happiness and wellbeing depends on authentic generosity and empathy and so we’d love to hear about how you become such a generous person – where do you think your generosity comes from?
I am a giver. Generosity is my love language. I fantasize about being able to provide for my extended family, community, and beyond. Giving gifts brings me so much joy and I put energy in giving the perfect gift! I give so much so to others that I often need to be reminded that I am also worthy of my gifts and attention. That I also need to fill my cup. I do so in order to share from a place of wealth and abundance. Where does that come from? The lineage of mothers and grandmothers that spoke it into existence for me. I am the sum of all their affirmations and prayers. I bring with me the power of a cup that is overflowing. And so it is…
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
What excites me the most about my work is the opportunity to restore the human aspect to Interior Design, rediscovering the roots of space occupancy. I believe that Holistic Design is the missing link in the industry, bringing a regenerative approach that prioritizes wellness, function, regenerative qualities, and the desired aesthetic. The result is intentional spatial precision that contributes not only to physical spaces but also to the evolution of human consciousness.
At Holistic-Spaces, I specialize in creating original spaces that are deeply personal, going beyond conventional design norms. Each project is a testament to my commitment to wellness, regeneration, and a holistic lifestyle. It’s not just about creating visually appealing spaces but about fostering an environment that resonates with the occupants on a profound level.
This year, San Diego y Tijuana have been chosen as the World Design Capital for all of 2024! It is such an honor to be a designer in a city where our craft is being celebrated everyday. My role in the World Design Capital is something that I have been keeping under wraps . Stay tuned because what’s coming is big!
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Gratitude has taken me to places I never knew were possible. I start everyday and all of my endeavors with a Thank You. It’s a great way to honor a higher vibration and to break the ice between you and your clients.
Confidence, for me, is a practice. One of which I do my best to embody fully. It takes real confidence to get up in front of new people and position yourself as an expert. Relating to your audience takes confidence and intuition. Trusting our intuition takes confidence. It’s the cornerstone of entrepreneurism and it’s fueled by self love.
Resilience is one of those feats that I’ve acquired out of necessity. It’s something that I had to learn by watching my Mother getting up after being knocked down. I learned it from watching my Grandmother providing for the family even if she was sick. I learned it first hand after I experienced loss and poverty due to homelessness and racism. It’s the bounce back. It’s growth after a winter pruning. It’s life after it feels like you’ve died. This is where strength is built.
How can folks who want to work with you connect?
Thank you so much Bold Journey for asking this question!
I find that my best and most notable collaborations are with women entrepreneurs who are looking to move into their first brick-n-mortar. Why this specific group of people? Because I feel that they actually really care about the energy in their spaces. They want the best for their employees and inhabitants and they are also on a massive learning curve. Not to mention, they are exposed to all the misogyny and unpredictability that the construction industry brings with it. Together we can transmute this energy to make way for the new space to blossom!
I am also looking to collaborate with people who are hosting conversations about any of the following: neuroscience in architecture, creating spaces for psychedelics and ritual, regenerative practices, and the World Design Capital. One of my hidden skills is public speaking. I have been in front of more group of people sharing my experience and I want to continue the trend.
If you find that you want to collaborate or either of the items above or if you have another outlet you think that will perfect for me, do not hesitate to reach out via my website or on social media!
