Meet Zachary Hamm

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Zachary Hamm a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Zachary, we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?
My self confidence was acquired through the practice of trying new things. It’s not easy and it’s uncomfortable, but when adopted and continuously practiced, your belief in yourself begins to blossom. It’s only in this state of trying new things where you truly determine what comes easy, what’s unnatural, and where you want to focus your energy to improve.

Making it a priority to try something new at least once is where I’ve been able to hone in on what adventure/endeavor I want to pursue next. It’s through these trials and failures that I’m able to prove to myself that I’m capable, and worthy.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
Financial planning is my profession/business, but through this career I’ve become more enthusiastic and intrigued with business and psychology as a whole. Let me explain how it all relates.

Most financial planners are viewed as wealth managers, studying the market for the next best investment opportunity, but the reality is that as we have evolved so has the role of a financial planner, at least for my business.

Yes, your investment choices are important and we certainly make
those a priority. But, what if I told you that clearly defining what micro actions can be taken daily/monthly towards maximizing your financial goals can have a greater impact on the overall probability of you obtaining the long term financial success and freedom you desire then the investment choices you make. Would you believe me?

What we do for our clients is act as their financial CEO. What that means for the people we work with is that they have a team consistently reviewing and analyzing their financial efficiencies and deficiencies. We then fill in the gaps that lie within our clients personal and business finances, creating structure throughout their entire financial household.

We accomplish this by building a financial plan with outlined step by step action items and investment strategies that match our clients goals and expected completion timeframes, while also building a team of vetted professions around our clients needs and wants. Our mission is to quarterback and lead these conversations and strategies to make sure we are all working in conjunction with one another for the better interest of our clients financial plan.

We have found that running our practice in this manner allows us to place our clients on an accelerated path to achieve their goals, but most importantly this is also brings clarity, support, and freedom to their lives, so they can spend time doing the things that are most important to them with the people that are most important to them.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
The three characteristic traits that I focus most on and have recognized the successful people I’ve studied have, is the acute ability to stay consistent, curious, and disciplined.

To maintain a productive life and business, measure your success on the amount of times you’ve taken daily action doing a tasks that brings you joy and generates healthy relationships. Focus less on outcomes and focus more on repeatable action, outcomes will always follow.

What do you do when you feel overwhelmed? Any advice or strategies?
Being overwhelmed is a common emotion felt when your desire to achieve is high. What I have found that works best to combat this feeling is to actively make note of and earmark tasks you’d like to compete on an ongoing basis.

What this looks like for me is utilizing Apples reminder app. I simply place a note or condensed remark in the reminder application describing what it is I want to complete. Throughout the day depending on my availability I begin tackling each item, reducing the list everyday to as little as possible. Some days the list is left larger than others, while most days it’s reduced to 5+- items. Not only does this allow me to stay productive and on track, but it also reduces the likelihood for items to fall through the cracks. It’s a great way to hold yourself accountable, stay true to your word, and feel accomplished.
