Meet Travis Cha$e

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Travis Cha$e. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Travis , thank you so much for taking the time to share your lessons learned with us and we’re sure your wisdom will help many. So, one question that comes up often and that we’re hoping you can shed some light on is keeping creativity alive over long stretches – how do you keep your creativity alive?
Before I go to bed at night I pray for a handful of things. One of them being for God to take me to places that I can’t even imagine with my artistic endeavors. When I think about the things that I truly desire, they are all rooted in creativity. Most people would label me as only a “rapper” based on the exterior appearance but that’s only one virtue of mine. I would argue I’m probably more of a poet or an author since I have written in a journal everyday since 2019 documenting my life. I could also say I’m a director since I shoot and edit videos among a bunch of other things. I really value the time that the creator has given me on this earth and by understanding that God is the creator I know I would be in self denial if I didn’t create freely. I believe that everyday is a new creation and ive accepted the fact whether i want to embrace it or not i’m forever a creative as long as i’m alive.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I’m Chilli Cha$e. I’m on both sides of the camera but I enjoy all aspects of being an artist because every minute detail counts to me . I’m excited that Legendary West Coast Artist Kokane will be dropping a music video I shot for him a couple years back which will put me in a different light. I also plan on expanding my brand Global Gypsy by adding more clothing drops in the forthcoming months.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
I believe the most important quality that i’ve learned on my artistic journey thus far is honesty. I think honesty is my key root to happiness. If you are able to rooted in reality and be transparent with yourself at most times. You wont feel rushed by anybodies expectations of you. Another important quality has to be bliss. Once I locked in on my artistic endeavors the outside worlds opinion became less and less detrimental to my creative mind. Some people believe its delusion and it might be to an extent but its also a discipline to understand what can and cant be allowed in your artistic space. Last but not least humility. it’s huge because success isn’t always linear so its important to treat everybody fair. The person that started at the end isn’t always going to finish at the end.

Before we go, maybe you can tell us a bit about your parents and what you feel was the most impactful thing they did for you?
Might sound corny but threw it all. I just know they genuinely love both my younger brother and I . Growing up I was blessed to live in a 2 parent household. it was blatantly obvious that our household wasn’t typical of my intermediate surroundings. They always spoke life into us and always told us we would be successful with hard work and resiliency. They also never lied and told me anything would be easy.
