We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Rashad Davis a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Rashad, thanks for taking the time to share your lessons with our community today. So, let’s jump right in – one of the most essential skills for unlocking our potential is self-discipline. Where does your self-discipline come from?
I consider self-discipline to be my greatest superpower, a trait that evolved from a previous lack of confidence. Feeling unqualified for significant opportunities, I once shied away from them, opting for the longer route. This entailed relentless work to earn what I believed I couldn’t attain in pivotal moments. Embracing solitude, I place my faith in the power of systems and structure, dedicating my time to crafting strategic ideas and implementing them diligently.
My disciplined approach is further fueled by a creative marketing mindset honed through my background in music. I’m perpetually fascinated by observing how strategies I created go on to unfold, recognizing that their full potential is realized only through disciplined and excellent execution. This quality has been a guiding force since my teenage years and continues to propel me forward as an adult, now overseeing a business I’ve built from the ground up to multiple six figures.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I’m a 21 year marketing professional who started with marketing music in high school. I currently reside in Atlanta, GA by way of Baton Rouge, LA. Music marketing transitioned into entertainment blogging in 2010, social media marketing in 2016, and community management today. T86 Marketing Agency is a team that supports digital course creators and membership community owners to create world class experiences for their students and members through proven strategies, systems, and best practices. We’ve supported well known thought leaders across a variety of industries, managed communities large and small, and partnered with membership platforms.
What I love most about what we do today is connecting like minded professionals to be stronger in a collective. We provide a safe space for professionals all over the country to be encouraged, supported, held accountable, rewarded, and celebrated along the rollercoaster of a journey through entrepreneurship. Lifelong ties are being made and more professionals are finding success through our efforts. And collaboration is being fostered instead of competition. The impact is what is most fulfilling!
Personally, I’m an ordained minister, husband and father of 2. My wife and I are youth leaders and I also have a boys mentorship that’s doing awesome things in Atlanta.
My goals are to grow what I currently have. I plan to serve more online membership communities and impact more young people helping them understand their true identity and reach their full potential in life.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Three qualities that were most valuable to my journey are patience, being teachable, and discipline. With patience I’ve been able to run my own race and not be concerned about comparison or rushing the journey. It also removes stress when you’re able to trust God and believe in His process that all things are working for your good. Being teachable allows me to gain from all experiences and never fail. I’m always learning and improving. And I spoke on the value of discipline which will carry you through all experiences and ensure you finish strong.

Some great reads that have been impactful to me are 1st the Bible. This has kept me sane through the roughest of times, encouraged me at my lowest, and motivated me to give my all into fulfilling my purpose. The Compound Effect by Darren Hardy was incredibly significant to honing my self-discipline. The 10X Rule by Grant Cardone helped my to think bigger and achieve more. And Profit First by Mike Michalowicz helped me streamline cashflow seamlessly in my business and personal finances! All are amazing reads!
