We recently connected with Nicole Burgess Marsh and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Nicole, so happy you were able to devote some time to sharing your thoughts and wisdom with our community. So, we’ve always admired how you have seemingly never let nay-sayers or haters keep you down. Can you talk to us about how to persist despite the negative energy that so often is thrown at folks trying to do something special with their lives?
There have been nay-sayers, gossipers and people will ill-intent in the past that have tried to demean my character or block me from success. Even though it is hurtful when I find out about it, it also drives me to be even more successful just to prove them wrong. Funny enough, it’s the haters that give me the most reason to persevere in life. I think it boils down to me not allowing them to be right, and maybe it’s an ego thing, but I would say it’s actually more about proving to myself that I can do it despite what others say or do and that allows me to push through despite all the odds. It definitely gives me strength and resilience so I guess I have them to thank for all of my success!

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I am an actor, writer and creative director. I would say that storytelling is my business, whether that’s acting, screenwriting, directing, writing novels and short stories, doing voiceover work, or publishing print and digital content, my creative voice shines when I’m telling and sharing stories. My acting portfolio encompasses both short films and feature films, national and international commercials, and voiceover work. My written work includes screenplays, a self-published novel and a short story. I started Life & Art with Nicole podcast in 2023 where I discuss a variety of creative topics as well as chat with exciting guests including actors, writers, directors, musicians, Grammy nominated artists and close friends. I am currently working on several different projects which I am very excited about!

If you had to pick one quality that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Focusing on my purpose, which is what I am most passionate about, has been impactful in my journey. My advice is to stay on your path – there will be many people throughout your life that will try to discourage you or pull you off of your path, but following and pursuing your passion is what I believe we are here on earth to do. Knowing your purpose and staying determined in in will always lead to success, it may take a while, but eventually you’ll get there and the rewards will feel that much richer when you do.
