We recently connected with LaKisha Mosley and have shared our conversation below.
LaKisha, sincerely appreciate your selflessness in agreeing to discuss your mental health journey and how you overcame and persisted despite the challenges. Please share with our readers how you overcame. For readers, please note this is not medical advice, we are not doctors, you should always consult professionals for advice and that this is merely one person sharing their story and experience.
There are three things I use to help with my mental health issues; prayer, therapy, and my tribe. Prayer is an essential part of my life. I cannot do anything I do without prayer being a focal point in my life. I live daily with depression however prayer helps me push through the day.
Although prayer is the ultimate source of strength for me, I also lean heavily toward therapy. My therapist is amazing and without his help, I don’t think I would have had the breakthroughs I’ve had. Therapy gives me the tools I need to navigate depression daily and it holds me accountable for my mental health care.
I have an amazing tribe of women who are there when I need someone to talk with or I need guidance. But they are also there to hold me accountable when I don’t want to put in the work to help my mental health.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I am an event planning guru. If you got me, you got the best! I’m also a compassionate advocate for mental health. I’ve been in the eventing space for over a decade and our speciality is crafting unforgettable events that not only elevate brands but transform the way they connect with their audiences.
I recently launched Mind Your Business, a pioneering mental health collective where my goal is to provide a nurturing safe space, focusing on the unique challenges faced by women in business.
Whether through memorable gatherings or empowering conversations, my mission is to create spaces where individuals can thrive, connect, and be heard.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Being humble, always being a student, and being willing to help others have been very impactful in my journey. No matter how much success you attain, it is important to always remain humble and not think too highly of yourself. Things can change for you very quickly and the last thing you want to do is turn off people that you may need one day. You should always be learning. Whether you have a high school diploma or a Ph D, you should always be open to learning new things. Helping others helps you. It is always a good thing to lead a helping hand. You never know when you might need the help.
How can folks who want to work with you connect?
I love collaborating with others! If you are a woman who supports other women, then I am looking for you! And men as well. I won’t leave the men out. If you are into helping women in business, mental health, and wellness, I want to work with you. I host an annual mental health conference in May and I am always looking for people who can support the cause. If love collaborating, then please send me and email or contact me on LinkedIn.
