Meet Devina Bhaga

We were lucky to catch up with Devina Bhaga recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Devina, thank you so much for opening up with us about some important, but sometimes personal topics. One that really matters to us is overcoming Imposter Syndrome because we’ve seen how so many people are held back in life because of this and so we’d really appreciate hearing about how you overcame Imposter Syndrome.
I love this question. The journey of releasing imposter syndrome from my body and BE-ing has been the catalyst for where I am in my life, and business today.

Imposter syndrome took a front-row seat the moment I started my business. It was a part of my identity long before that, but something I wasn’t necessarily able to pinpoint – because it was running the show.

A big part of my business, apart from client work, is “showing up”, and “putting myself out there” daily via social media, and digital marketing. In the beginning, this felt incredibly shame-inducing. I wondered what the people who knew me would think of me, and judged myself fiercely for thinking I was worthy of placing myself on display in this way. Although it slowed me down, imposter syndrome didn’t stop me from moving forward in my business, or the marketing of it. But it did result in multiple-a-day shame spirals that prevented me from thinking about, or doing anything else.

The good news is when I understood that I was experiencing imposter syndrome, I realized it was due to a belief system I held around my self-worth. It became clear that to experience the freedom, success, and fulfillment that I knew was available to me, I would have to release this crippling mindset.

So over the next 3 years, I invested time, money, and energy into myself, and experiences that allowed me to meet, and show love and compassion to myself on deeper levels. These experiences ranged from breathwork sessions to yoga retreats, plant medicine ceremonies, business coaching, a daily meditation practice, regular movement, releasing people and experiences that no longer served my joy and purpose…The list is endless.

This might not be the aligned path for everyone. But it was where I felt called, and served me immensely. Needless to say, my entire life changed.

I now prioritize how I feel in my body before making any decisions, and have a deep commitment to aligning with my unlimited self-worth on a moment-to-moment basis. As a result, I’ve released the belief systems that developed into imposter syndrome, along with feelings of fear, self-judgement, and shame around being seen in my authenticity. It was a long and rewarding road, and one that I wouldn’t trade for anything.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I help entrepreneurs step out of the matrix, and align with more money, freedom, and joy in their lives/businesses, by doing less.

I spent a lifetime trying to prove myself in every capacity – in work, relationships, with family…you name it. I never believed that I was enough; and therefore, created hurdles (literally, out of thin air) to jump through, and to prove to myself and others (but mostly to myself) that I was worthy of existing.

This isn’t to say that my life hasn’t been fun, fulfilling, and full of love. But the majority of what felt “good” was fleeting, and inevitably replaced by (my own) feelings of where I needed to “be” or “do” more to prove my worth, regardless of the situation.

Eventually, I embarked on a powerful journey to releasing self-judgement and imposter syndrome and stepped into the knowing that I am worthy, simply because I exist. This is true for everyone.

The process of cementing this belief has changed every aspect of my life. As a result, desired circumstances/experiences/relationships/clients/money… Things that I previously felt I had to work incredibly hard to deserve, began to flow into my reality effortlessly.

More than that, where I used to experience fear, frustration, and worry, I now feel ease, bliss, and a knowing that my desires come to fruition seamlessly, and in perfect timing – simply because I exist.

Along with my psychic ability, this knowing guides me in supporting entrepreneurs in transforming their businesses, and lives from the inside, out. If I get to have it all, then so does everybody else.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

  1. A willingness to get curious around fear, and other negative emotions. They are all messengers for where you hold contradictory beliefs around self-worth.
  2. Prioritize what feelsright for you over and above external advice, and what you “think” is right.
  3. Let it be safe to be flexible. Allow yourself to pivot directions/careers when you feel guided, even if it feels scary. Remember, fear is simply a messenger.

The above guidelines have gotten me to where I am today, and I will continue to follow them. But the most important piece of advice I can share is to trust yourself. Wherever you are being led, is for a purpose – even if you don’t know what/why/where that is yet. More importantly, let “it” not make sense if “it” doesn’t. You’re not here to do “it” like anybody else. Let it be ok, and even wonderful if your journey doesn’t look like anybody, or everybody else’s. You’re here to do “it” like you. So if the path starts to feel inauthentic, or formulaic, or boring… Ask yourself: is this my journey, or somebody else’s?

The more you trust yourself, the more you’ll gain confidence in trusting yourself. Self-trust is a muscle. The more you use it, the more it strengthens and grows. Most importantly, the more you trust yourself, the more powerfully you’ll lead yourself.

Looking back over the past 12 months or so, what do you think has been your biggest area of improvement or growth?
LETTING GO of how I thought things should look/be/feel. This has made ALL of the difference. At the beginning of 2023, I was uncertain and scared. I would’ve given ANYTHING for certainty around money, clients, life… everything.

But in every aspect of life, last year showed me that delicious and unplanned surprises are around every corner. And that intention and a firm belief that everything is ALWAYS playing out in alignment with what I desire is the difference between living a fulfilling vs. unfulfilling life.

In surrendering the control I was grasping for, I’ve created more space to BE the embodiment of what I teach vs. worrying about if I was, or not. And that has allowed me to relax, create, serve, and attract in the most delicious ways possible.
