We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Pynk Roze. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Pynk below.
Pynk, so great to be with you and I think a lot of folks are going to benefit from hearing your story and lessons and wisdom. Imposter Syndrome is something that we know how words to describe, but it’s something that has held people back forever and so we’re really interested to hear about your story and how you overcame imposter syndrome.
Overcoming impostor syndrome was a journey for me, and I still have moments I find myself doubting who I am and what I’m capable ofF especially when it comes to trying new things and becoming someone I’ve never been. As far as my role as the host of “Don’t Recycle Project” podcast, I had doubts that maybe I wasn’t qualified enough to teach or share information. It felt like one day someone would say, “who does she think she is?” Even after all of my life experiences, from being married at 18, and having my two daughters, who are now teenagers, to working a psychiatric Registered Nurse, and overcoming my own challenges from childhood trauma that led to unhealthy habits in my adult years, I still didn’t feel like I was “qualified” for the job. Until one day, it hit me, why not me? Why would God give me such a brilliant idea if I wasn’t the one for the job? It took a lot of reprogramming of my mind to look in the mirror and see me beyond the insecurities and fear I’d developed over the years. Truly creating a new identity, and believing in her. A lot of self love, compassion, and realizing that even my imperfections are beautiful has helped tremendously.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I wear a few different hats, in my professional role I work as a Psychiatric Registered Nurse, so I get the chance to meet a lot of different people from all walks of life who suffer from acute as well as chronic mental illnesses. My job as a nurse is to help stabilize these patients so that they can return back to their lives and functions.
As far an artist, OMG! This is where my inner child gets to play, I’m such a creative, I love making music, I write, sing and rap, I love turning my life experiences into art, it’s really like therapy for me, and I also plan to share more with the world this year.
I also host a podcast called “Don’t Recycle Project.” I started the podcast because I had trauma that made me feel so isolated at times, and misunderstood, so I wanted to create a safe space to have conversations, that would hopefully lead solutions to breaking the toxic cycles and generational curses that have lingered in most of our families far too long. I love it because as I am teaching, I’m also learning as well as healing.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Wow, ok 3 things, I could name 10, lol but let’s see, I would say Listening, Compassion, and being open minded has gotten me far,
I think it’s important to listen, everyone has something to teach, and we all can learn. I’m a forever student. Life is constantly teaching and revealing new information as long as you are open and receptive.
Compassion, because, we don’t know what the next person is going through, so all we can do is give grace and have compassion, even if you don’t always see eye to eye.
Remaining open to what life has in store and to the possibilities of what things could be beyond your imagination and being able to flow and let life unfold is a beautiful place to be.
How can folks who want to work with you connect?
I’m always down to collaborate with others! I’m always up to something, Don’t Recycle Project just started a Beach clean up that we will host monthly, we would love for you to come help if you have the time, I would also love to have more guests who can speak on healing, and trauma, and offer other perspectives for the listeners, and there’s so much more in store!
