Meet Georgia Dawkins

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Georgia Dawkins a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Georgia with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?

I love this question! I was raised by Central Florida flea markets. Strangely enough, my mom was really into retail during my pre-teen years and somehow that meant more work for me and my younger brother. Our booth often included shoes, clothes, linen, and glass produce.

Selling glass flowers remains one of the hardest things I’ve ever done. The experience however taught me a valuable lesson about persistence. Even if that meant bartering with another vendor. I got it sold.

My favorite thing to trade was chicken tamales topped with fresh lime and green salsa. I apologize for drooling. Business is delicious.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
Connecting people though video is my passion. I’ve been creating content on social media for nearly 2 decades. My most watched video on YouTube is a video I recorded at a drag show in Shreveport.

For one minute and 22 seconds, Kennedy Davenport mesmerized the crowd to the tune of Gladys Knight’s End of the Road. After that video, Kennedy made her way to Season 7 of RuPaul’s Drag Race and Season 3 of RuPaul’s Drag Race Allstars. I’m not saying that I had anything to do with it; I’m just saying I happened to be in the right place at the right time. Capturing the moment is what I do best.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Let’s start with patience, faith, and humility.

To be honest, I rolled my eyes at the thought of tests that revealed said qualities. You can’t know what you are made of until you have been tried by fire.

For people who are just beginning their journey, I encourage you to be patient with yourself. You don’t know everything and you never will. As for faith, what you believe is personal but do believe in something. Whatever you believe will come true. Lastly, humility is necessary at every step of the journey. You’re never too big to be better.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?
I’m glad you asked. I want to collaborate with folks who need lifestyle content, testimonials, and podcasts. But first, I want to put them at ease: you don’t have to know what you want right now. Let’s get to know each other.

Start by setting up a discovery call. This gives me an idea of your brand’s personality. The content relationship works both ways. Also, I think it’s important to let potential clients know that payment plans are available. I am committed to meeting you where you are. This year, I relaunched my content production services which include development, content creation, and post-production. Let’s get to work!
