We were lucky to catch up with Keiare Isler recently and have shared our conversation below.
Keiare, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?
My mom is my inspiration for my strong work ethic and motivation. Everything I learned from my mother has shaped me to be the woman I am today. My mother always told me to “work hard for what you want.” By that she meant, that nothing is going to be handed to you. If you want something you have to work to get it yourself. I watched my mother take care of her household and work two jobs at the same time to keep a roof over me and my siblings head. She taught me how to be an independent woman. Even when things were impossible she still made a way. For those reasons I value and appreciate all the lessons my mom taught me and couldn’t thank her enough.

I am a lash technician in the Richmond Virginia area and the owner of The Pretty Mink Addiction. As a business owner in the beauty industry my mission is to provide each and every client with an unforgettable experience. Lash extensions are made to enhance your natural eyelashes and overall appearance. I am sure that everyone who gets serviced by PMA will leave out feeling extremely confident about themselves. I have been in business for three years, July 2024 will make it four years. Not only am I a lash technician but I am also a shop owner now. The most exciting part of my profession is that I am able to give people the confidence that is already within them. As a lash technician I get the opportunity to meet so many amazing people on a daily which is always beneficial for networking purposes. I enjoy this the most because I am always looking for ways to expand my business and grow as a service provider in the beauty industry. Throughout the year my new and existing clients shall expect new services & products added to The Pretty Mink Addiction.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Communication skills is one of the most important skills in entrepreneurship. I say that because you want to make sure that you’re able to interact with your clients in a positive manner always. Great communication skill can help clients gravitate back towards you. I had to learn this because before I started my business I was an introvert. Meeting new people and facing many obstacles helped me open up more to individuals. Networking is another skill I learned as a business owner. This has helped me open up doors for new opportunities and build up my brand. Networking is a great asset because it helps you create relationships with other businesses owners and learn from them. The last important skill I learned from this journey is risk taking. This is extremely important and impactful in my journey because risks I take as a business owner created a strong foundation for my brand. I realized that I couldn’t be scared to try new things in order to learn and grow from them. Risk taking can definitely take your business up to the next level. My advice to anyone looking to start their journey as an entrepreneur is to stay true to your brand. Be sure to emphasize the skills I mentioned to create a good foundation for your business.
How can folks who want to work with you connect? Collaboration is definitely on my list. I’m always looking for ways to expand and grow as an entrepreneur and I think collaboration would benefit my business. I would love to have a few people that I can learn from & individuals that can provide a great support system. From my experience entrepreneurship isn’t easy and sometimes having a good mentor can help keep me on the right track when facing any sort of challenges.
