Meet Jenny Morant

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jenny Morant. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Jenny, we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?

Confidence! For me it started at a young age. My parent’s were always very encouraging and have been ever since. In addition to family, having positive friendships, teachers, coaches, etc. are instrumental for your mental health and well being. If you are not surrounded by likeminded individuals there is no way you can maintain a healthy self-esteem.

In terms of confidence within my real estate business, I believe that experience has cultivated this. I have learned a lot of hard lessons by making mistakes, but having the willingness to learn and ask questions is most important. Confidence is an ongoing skill that has to be strengthened.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

My name is Jenny Morant. I am a real estate agent of 12 yrs. I just happened to land into this career and it was the best thing that every happened to me. When I began my journey in real estate 12 yrs ago, it was at a pivotal time in my life. I had just finished graduate school and was looking for a position as a counselor. Unfortunately, nothing quite right was opened up. My sister-in-law, Brianna Morant, and now business partner presented me with a lead coordination role which morphed into us owning our own business and being one of the top realtors in Middle TN.

I love helping people find the perfect home and being able to negotiate the best deal for them. I work extremely hard to provide our client’s with the highest level of service. Buying a home is one of the most exciting and scariest times for most people, but having a professional that you trust implicitly guiding you is essential.

I love it when people are at the closing table and they tell me they never imagined that this would be so easy! When I hear this, I know I’ve done my job well.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
One of the most important factors in anyone’s success is problem solving. I didn’t realize this until I looked back on my career. What sets me apart from many other realtors is my ability to creatively problem solve for my client’s.

Anticipating next-steps and being prepared. With every transaction I always think 3 steps ahead. This brings a lot of confidence to the client that I have their back.

Secondly, understanding people and their nonverbal cues. I think it’s important to understand how to communicate with different types of people. This makes the entire process more enjoyable for everyone.

Do you think it’s better to go all in on our strengths or to try to be more well-rounded by investing effort on improving areas you aren’t as strong in?
I think that it’s important to challenge ourselves by doing tasks that make us feel uncomfortable. I am certainly guilty of staying in my comfort-zone, but I have felt that when there is an activity that feels uncomfortable or challenges me that I need to stay the course.

One example of this is cold calling. Nobody really likes cold calling, you’ve never felt more vulnerable than calling a stranger and trying to connect with them over the phone. I did this job for about 1 year. I learned a lot about myself and pushing through the uncomfortableness gave me a lot of confidence.
