Meet Shelley Anbouba

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Shelley Anbouba a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Shelley, so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.
It has been an evolution and a continual area of growth for me. I am an only child so from childhood until middle adulthood my parents raised me to be self sufficient, a self starter, a servant leader and confident. I watched my dad growing up and he has the great ability to be a selfless connector – and that is a trait I have fully embraced. If I can connect two people together then I have done something and I need nothing in return for it. In my current life state, it is my husband Imad. He comes from a large Middle Eastern family and we have experienced a life full of exotic travel, extended time with family and friends overseas and joy in the everyday. The memories we have created are my most treasured collection. I credit him for pushing me to experience more, love larger, risk more and never have regrets. I have always admired how he lives each moment with a gentlemanly grace and poise. Aside from my parents he has made the most positive impact and I wouldn’t be half the person I am today without him.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I am a native of Texas! I was recently cleaning out some paperwork to scan and found my official Texas Citizen certificate – that was one I did not digitize. I have always had a philanthropic heart and began volunteering at the age of 14 as a candy striper (that just dated me!) at Texas Scottish Rite Hospital. After a 25+ year career in the graphics and not for profit sector I wanted to really do something where I could have work life balance, build something using my entrepreneurial spirit and my creativity to better peoples lives.

There are more than 100 NEAT Method owners nationwide and in Canada. We all have access to our own product line, are all trained continually and we love coming up with custom client solutions to make their day to day lives calm amongst all the chaos!

In addition to making spaces NEAT, we work with architects, builders, interior designers and individuals to review their house plans before they commit to millwork in any space of the home – pantry to closet, bathroom to home office! It is an area where we are seeing lots of growth and it helps to make sure that there is a place for everything and that all space is being used!

We offer a VIP program for continued maintenance and a vacation and second home concierge service as well.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
In my corporate career, I managed a team of 15+ individuals that ranged in age and experience. I learned how to listen and appreciate different points of view at early in my career, incorporating them into decision while also maintaining the company standards.

I am a master of planning as I have always had a career, a social life and charitable commitments requiring me to manage my time like a clients project.

However; my best skill is building relationships and being a connector. I absolutely love connecting people together where there are synergies. Much like the connections we have in our community that we use on projects!

We’ve all got limited resources, time, energy, focus etc – so if you had to choose between going all in on your strengths or working on areas where you aren’t as strong, what would you choose?
I love that my team of employees all bring something different to the table. We all have different life experiences, hobbies, interests and are in different stages of life. Where we are all proficient in the NEAT Method way, we use our bank of personal experiences to bring that extra element to each and every project. We always work in a a team of at least two individuals and that directly relates to one of the core values we live by each day is that we are better together!
