Meet Brittany Borges

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Brittany Borges. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Brittany, so many exciting things to discuss, we can’t wait. Thanks for joining us and we appreciate you sharing your wisdom with our readers. So, maybe we can start by discussing optimism and where your optimism comes from?
I believe it all starts with my “why”. Why do I want to do what I’m doing? Why is this my goal? What will I get from achieving this? This is what I remind myself of when I start to question myself.

I have a clear idea of the goals that I want to accomplish and the kind of person I want to become. Being honest with myself and having an open-mind are fundamental. I understand that my journey will look different than how I think it’s going to go or other’s peoples and I try not to get too attached to specific outcomes. Accomplishing your goals is not always easy and there are times I will be discouraged and question what I’m doing. I acknowledge those emotions however, I don’t allow myself to act on them or influence me without carefully considering them.

Having faith and continuously praying has also been a great help to me. I make it a point to incorporate faith into different aspects of my life. I have faced challenges and setbacks like everyone else, but I believe each obstacle I face I can overcome. I try not to worry myself with the “how” and just keep going. I believe that nothing happens by chance, and every experience I’ve had is to prepare me.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I started content creation in 2019. I’m a person who enjoys creating and my 9-5 wasn’t helping me achieve that. I also knew I wanted something for myself, something I could have fun with.

It began as a hobby but the longer I was in it, I saw how big of a world social media was – it wasn’t just about the platforms themselves. I discovered the connections I could make, different career paths, and opportunities I could create for myself. The more I created content, the more I fell in love with it. It was my escape from the traditional path I had taken and opened countless possibilities for me. Which also was the most exciting thing about it. I think it’s special to see where you began, how your journey has progressed, and how you have changed. I came from a traditional background where I believed there was “one path” I could take for my life. Social media helped me realize that there is no one set path for life, and we should always aim to explore and discover new opportunities.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
I believe that faith, resilience, and dedication have been the three most impactful qualities in my journey.

I’ve faced rejection many times which is an inevitable part of putting yourself out there. However, you and your craft are perfected in the “no”. Every “no” forced me to aim to do better and be creative in ways I set myself apart. I explored different ways to curate my content, film, speak, network, and much more. It is discouraging to hear it but if you want something and you want to be great at what you do that’s something you cannot avoid. You have to find something that grounds you and motivates you to keep going. That’s where having faith comes in for me. I also understand the importance of being open-minded. Just because one way did not work, does not mean that another way will not.

To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?
My mom is an excellent role model. She’s very optimistic and has a sense of faith that things will always work out. It might not be the way we expect it to be, but it will be regardless as long as we keep pushing through. My mom and I have gone through many different stages of life together. She’s always provided the best for me. Seeing her through multiple challenges showed me to do the same and not give in to sadness or to give up on the things I want. Even when I had nothing to show for it, she fully believed in what I was doing. I will always be grateful for that. I know I would be unable to push myself or believe in myself as much as I do if it was not for her support.
