Meet Jay Jackson

We recently connected with Jay Jackson and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Jay , thank you for being such a positive, uplifting person. We’ve noticed that so many of the successful folks we’ve had the good fortune of connecting with have high levels of optimism and so we’d love to hear about your optimism and where you think it comes from.
My optimism comes from belief. And more specifically faith. Faith means to have confidence in things you can’t see. This is something I learned at five years old. That when you believe, absolutely anything is possible. And it’s that type of childlike optimism that we all have when we are kids. Unfortunately, throughout life we go through trials, hardships, and failures that we tend to lose this optimism that we once had. We stop dreaming. Personally, like everyone else in this world. I’ve experienced life too. However, I’ve always held a firm conviction on having a short memory. Letting go of the negative experiences of the past. Thus, pressing on to a great future.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
My name is Jay Jackson; I was born and raised in North Dallas. Oldest of 13 younger siblings. Just like most people’s life was tough growing up, but I live in America, so it wasn’t that tough. However, my family wasn’t the poorest family but we were not rich at all. We grew up eating syrup sandwiches, dancing with roaches in the kitchen, and playing basketball with a grocery basket. I’ve always been a Leader, visionary, and successful. Fortunately, I figured out my calling at a very young age. After going through a lot of trauma throughout life I discovered my purpose for my calling which was to save my family, friends, and to change the world. My dream is impact. To serve and uplift. One thing I’ve always stressed is the importance of loving people. Love in Greek can be defined as Charity. Which is to serve or give to others. In which, I believe, if I drive that message. One person at a time, we will make the world a better place. As far as my education, I studied Psychology at Arizona State University, and I also have a Bachelor’s degree in Theology. Also serve as Motivational speaker, writer, and entrepreneur. Right now, I am business owner of a company called Immediate Solar; we are an Energy company located in Richardson, Tx. We have about 150 employees, sales reps, and installers. We are completely minority owned! I also do business-to-business sales and real estate investing. Overall, my goal is to inspire. Two of my favorites sayings are “Never give up” and “Anything is possible”. Because if you make a decision to never give up, anything is possible!

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
The three qualities about me that has helped me the most throughout my journey is that I’m stubborn, tenacious, but I’m compassionate as well. Life is rough. And I can definitely say I’ve been through a lot of trauma in my life. Some of it self-inflicted from my own mistakes and some from the result of being hurt by others. The problem is that hurt people hurt people. Along with that, as human beings, we have this expectation to “keep up with joneses,” in which makes you discontented with the current status of your life based on other people experiences that you may see on social media. But trauma truly cultivated me. It made my skin thicker but my heart softer. Because now, I can relate with the rest of world and the pain that other individuals have experienced. With that being said, I don’t expect things to get easier. I know it will only get more difficult. But I’m grateful that a byproduct of going to trials and tribulations, thus, being stretch mentally and emotionally. As a result of pain, I’ve experience in my life; this will increase my bandwidth. Which will prepare me for the things that are in store for me. My advice for anyone early in their journey is to find out what their purpose is in life, dedicate their life to that cause, and fully commit to it.

What has been your biggest area of growth or improvement in the past 12 months?
Learning how to be present has been my biggest accomplishment in the past 12 months. With my background, I always found myself being tempted to dwell on the past, anxious about the future, and forgetting the peace of the present. You can only learn from the past, you can’t go back. It’s unhealthy to worry about the future because tomorrow’s not even promise, just stay confident about the future. The present is the only thing we can truly control.
