We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Alejandro Bernal Flores a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Alejandro, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
From an early age, I often felt out of place, different. Unable to explain or put words to the feeling, I took it at face value, I must not be home. It wasn’t until I was about 15 years old that I realized the feeling I was having originated from being a first-generation Mexican immigrant in the United States. It was the culture running through my blood & at home at odds with the culture around me, in school, with my friends, at the store, even the two languages I learned side by side. It created a space where I could not see myself living up to other’s visions of success, and identity. While still in high school, I enrolled in the school choir. I was immersed in music from around the world spanning throughout human history. Learning choral music taught me that we all have a common thread. Composers & musicians living before I was a possibility wrote music about experiences I had yet to experience and ones with which I was far too familiar. I latched onto that feeling. Music as a form of self-expression, control, and my purpose. Since then, I have redefined to myself how it manifests. I have dreams of being an audio engineer, music producer, and a musician. I am currently living out those dreams and yet they still feel like a goal I one day want to achieve. I thrust myself into a never-ending journey into the human condition via music. My creations are deeply personal, expressive, and never exclusive. My purpose is to not only discover myself & others through musical self-expression but help others find their way.

My name is Alejandro Bernal Flores. I am the force behind Echo Sound Space, an innovative audio production company, record label, educational platform, and audio community based in Bakersfield, CA, serving both the local community and like minded individuals around the world. With an unwavering passion for music and an infectious enthusiasm for sonic excellence, I have meticulously crafted Echo Sound Space as a love letter to audio excellence and the human spirit. Embarking on my audio journey over a decade ago, my love for music initially led to the establishment of XSTL Records. An independent record label for independent artists seeking industry tools without signing a contract. Fast forward through the years, and my ambitious spirit has evolved my efforts into the creation of the Echo Sound Space, an entity dedicated to setting new standards in audio production, recording services, live events, and audio education.
Throughout my evolution, I have consistently delivered top-tier audio experiences, earning a reputation for excellence and professionalism. My leadership has fostered collaborations with a diverse array of artists and clients, resulting in a portfolio marked by successful projects and satisfied users.
Beyond my role as the driving force behind Echo Sound Space, I remain deeply engaged in the creative process. My direct approach, coupled with my expertise in audio production and meticulous attention to detail, have been instrumental in elevating numerous projects to unparalleled heights.
My conviction lies in the transformative power of sound—a force capable of narrating stories, evoking emotions, and uniting people. Through Echo Sound Space, I continue to push the boundaries of what is achievable in audio production and music, steadfastly guiding the company towards a future defined by innovation, excellence, and an unwavering commitment to the art of sound.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
My three most impactful qualities in my journey have been my “dreamer” mindset, unwavering passion for art, and my compulsive need to share my human experience with others. Like many others in the music industry, I grew up a dreamer, in a world of my own. Meticulously crafting it, down to the last little detail in my mind before ever conceiving I could make anything in the real world. It is that commitment to nurturing my dreams and that imaginative brilliance that keeps me steadfastly hurdling through my goals. My passion for art, parallels my passion for living, in all its mundane yet expansive possibilities. It is that passion that has kept me from spiraling into new career paths, abandoning what is most precious to me. My vulnerability is my strength. I have no need for secrets. Connecting with others based on our shared human experience makes me feel seen & heard. And that is all I have ever wanted in this world. To know I am not alone, that I am part of something bigger than myself. My first advice to others is and always will be, strengthen your inner self. That part within which is responsible for making each of us an individual. Every successful idea in history was created by an individual. An individual who dared to search within and nurtured the strength to pursue their ideas. Consume less content than you put out and exercise that creative muscle. You can learn from all the educational sources in the world but its what we do with that information that threads us into the colorful tapestry of our human history.
