We recently connected with Ronnie Coleman Jr and have shared our conversation below.
Ronnie, so glad you were able to set aside some time for us today. We’ve always admired not just your journey and success, but also the seemingly high levels of self-discipline that you seem to have mastered and so maybe we can start by chatting about how you developed it or where it comes from?
For me, it simply comes from the understanding that I may not get a second chance at a do-over. So I have made the conscious decision to take advantage of each opportunity carefully because in many instances, you only get one shot at a thing.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
Well I’m a husband, father, believer in Christ, serial entrepreneur and national music artist from the great state of Texas. I’m the owner/operator of Merlots Barbershop, one of Houston’s most award winning grooming establishments. I am a chef who owns Chef Merlots Kickback and Coleman’s Catering HTX. Along with those full time careers, I am also a national contemporary jazz artist. The most exciting this about life for me is that I get to create newness on a daily basis with as little hindrance as possible.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
1. Perseverance 2. Honesty
3. Desires For Growth
I never wanted to be in any situation of where I could loose and opportunity for betterment because of my ignorance. My only advice is to never stop learning and trying thing. You may not get it right at first but never stop
Who is your ideal client or what sort of characteristics would make someone an ideal client for you?
My ideal client is someone who leaves me only and respectfully allows me to be the colorful creative that will make them shine showcasing my ever amazing talents and gift while they PAY ON TIME. LOL
