Hi Kyia, thank you so much for making time for us today. Let’s jump right into a question so many in our community are looking for answers to – how to overcome creativity blocks, writer’s block, etc. We’d love to hear your thoughts or any advice you might have.
As a creator, it’s quite common to have creative blocks every now and again. Ways that I overcome creative blocks is simple I just take a break. Normally, as a creative when you are faced with creative blocks it can come from being overwhelmed. It can even get worse for a person experiencing creative block because the fact that you’re experiencing a creative block can be frustrating. Taking a break, listening to whatever music calms you, going for a drive, or simply hanging around family and friends can give a person space to breathe and it can also spark ideas.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
My name is Kyia but I am better known as “Boots” these days. I’m a 20 year old college student that is currently majoring in engineering while also pursing my dreams of being a youtuber/social media influencer. I’ve always wanted to be a social media influencer but I’ve always let my own personal doubts get in the way of that dream. Up until about a year ago, I made a decision to drop my first YouTube video and I’ve been going up since then. My goal with my YouTube channel is to show that you can be yourself, be different, and have fun as a young lady giving her life to christ and living for God. I believe that we need more examples of what that looks like in today’s society which is what led to “BOOTS4PRESIDENT” being created.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Three qualities that are the most impactful on this journey for me is patience, faith, and consistency. No matter the journey you’re on it’s important to stay patient throughout the process. Everything isn’t just going to take off right away and it takes faith to keep believing that God is going to work it out even if you can’t see it. And to also remember not to compare your journey to somebody else’s journey. To genuinely support and encourage the people around you even when everything isn’t working out on your end but to stay consistent and keep pushing.
What has been your biggest area of growth or improvement in the past 12 months?
My biggest area of growth in the past 12 months has definitely been my drive/mindset. The transition of going from a teenager to a young adult is never easy. So coming to a realization that if I don’t get up and get things done for myself it’ll never happen because realistically I’ve only got myself. Waiting around for something to hit is never the answer. I’ve always known that but of course having to actually go through it and being faced with reality is always different.
