We were lucky to catch up with EnJanae’ Taylor recently and have shared our conversation below.
EnJanae’, so happy to have you with us today. You are such a creative person, but have you ever head any sort of creativity block along the way? If so, can you talk to us about how you overcame or beat it?
I think it’s important that I always remind myself why I started writing in the first place. I write to share what I love. When I’m unsure what my next step is, I take a step back and give myself a chance to reset. It can be as simple as watching one of my favorite movies or playing an album I love. In entertainment, there’s always something new, but it’s also fun to rewind and look back on what things and people made me fall in love with pop culture in the first place. I can create something fun to write about by looking at new and old perspectives.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I’m a fashion and entertainment writer from New Orleans, LA. I’ve written for Southern Living, Basic Magazine, Her Campus, and more. I’ve always been a fangirl and could have never dreamed that I could incorporate my love of pop culture into my work as I do now. There’s something special about sharing your passions with others in your own words and connecting with people who love the same things you do.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Passion, curiosity, and determination are all things that led me to where I am now. If you have your mind and heart set on something, never give up, even if others don’t believe in you. The only person who needs to believe is you!
Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?
My favorite thing to do to unwind is to put on a movie. I love immersing myself in another world and losing myself in the story. Find something that makes you forget your struggles, even for a few hours.
