Meet Gustavo Galindo

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Gustavo Galindo . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Gustavo , thank you so much for making time for us today. Let’s jump right into a question so many in our community are looking for answers to – how to overcome creativity blocks, writer’s block, etc. We’d love to hear your thoughts or any advice you might have.
My method of overcoming writer’s block is to draw my creative focus into different areas or instruments. This way you can find new ways to challenge yourself and stir up the creative juices. For example if Im feeling blocked on the guitar Ill move to the piano or flute or charango. If I’m blocked musically I can go and grab a paint brush and paint what I’m feeling.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I’m a musical alchemist, a melody hunter and story seeker, otherwise known as a songwriter. I write heart felt music that comes from my observations, thoughts and experiences. Trying to make melodic sense of the material world and all it’s ups and downs. I was born in Mexico City and grew up between Mexico and California and what felt like two worlds, one in English, the other in spanish, one spicy the other mild and cool. Both with amazing cultural influences from the blues to mariachi, La bamba to Hotel California, i couldn’t help but find myself drawn to the best of both worlds. This is why my latest album is called “Between Two Worlds”. Which will be released on ‘March 22.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
1) Determination

2) Practice

3) Just Jump

To be an artist you have to have determination and a blind faith that you have what it takes. And mostly what it takes is the willingness to put in the hours of practice and rehearsal in order to be able to perform at a profesional level. Also the ability to jump for the right opportunity when it comes along and not hesitate.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?
As well as being a songwriter I’m also a producer and I love helping other songwriters and artists being their song to recorded life. Im currently producing an artist called Dose of Diosa who makes ceremonial songs which has been a lot of fun. I’m always looking to produce up and coming artists and creatives.
I’m also currently looking for a manager who can help me as I’m starting to get more productive and would love a co-pilot to help me see above the clouds.
