Meet Jasmine Lewis

We were lucky to catch up with Jasmine Lewis recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Jasmine, thank you so much for joining us today. There are so many topics we could discuss, but perhaps one of the most relevant is empathy because it’s at the core of great leadership and so we’d love to hear about how you developed your empathy?
Hello my name is Jasmine Lewis, and the way I have developed empathy was through experiences, I use to talk about people that where on drugs. It wasn’t until I fell into the path of drugs that allowed me to understand others, I now understand the saying “never say never”, once I fell into the path of addiction, I now understand that you should never judge or talk about someone, because you never know what someone has or is going threw.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I am almost 2 years clean and sober from drugs, I am aspiring to become a substance abuse therapist, who will eventually open up my own practice. have a under construction documentary on YOUTUBE, where I am vlogging my everyday journey of navigating threw society soberly while going to college, this is a story of someone who can and do recover and is showing the world that it is possible to live in society again after being mentally gone for years and years, I now will be graduating from a community l ill eye and will be transferring to a university, I feel most exciting about the fact that I can stay sober and accomplish many things even though the odds were against me, more importantly I’m excited about getting to know the me that I lost before I was on drugs, I’m breaking generational curses and so much more,

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
The skills I learned where the tools I took with me after I completed the program, I changed people, places, and things, but more importantly someone was able to reach me and so I want to give back and reach someone or as many as I can as well, The best advice I can give to someone that’s in my shoes, it’s ok to relapse I did a thousand times. That just means u have not come to the ending of yourself, once you do GOD will step on, just like he did for me, remember to just take one day at at time

Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?
Honestly GOD is the one that’s been navigating my paths an steps for me, he governs my emotions and my thoughts, and he calms my anxiety down, he takes my fears away and listens to the concerns of my heart, and then my family is my support system and my safe haven, and by me being in school I am able to sharpen my skills and shapes my qualities for me,
