Meet LaCarla Surles

We were lucky to catch up with LaCarla Surles recently and have shared our conversation below.

LaCarla , we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
I found my purpose in 2015, I would give my Great Grandmother pedicures until one day I wasn’t able to, she was sick and the infection from her body was coming out from her feet. I couldn’t do anything to help her ease the pain. In 2018 I became a Certified Master Pedicurist and that helped me to get a bigger and better understanding about the importance of feet.

In 2020 my father was diagnosed with Lupus and it attacked his kidneys. But years before then, I was giving my father pedicures and I saw discoloration in his toenails but I thought it was trauma from the boots that he wore. Because of Lupus and it attacking his kidneys, one of the first signs was showing up on his toenails. My father passed away in 2020 from complications of Covid but he had an underlined condition.

I lived with the guilt of not knowing what I was looking at on my father’s toenails. So I made a promise to my Father and my Great Grandmother that I would do everything I can to help save people’s lives by helping them with their feet.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I help people feel beautiful through their feet. I believe that I give some of the best pedicures known to man. Each pedicure that I do is tailored to my client specific needs. Honestly I love feet, sounds weird but I definitely can’t see myself doing anything else. What’s most exciting about what I do is I get hear some of the most amazing stories from my clients, especially the elderly. They are some of the most appreciative people I know and that’s makes it work while to me..

My company is called the Beauticurist . I have created a solid foot care system that will help you love your feet again. I have 2 different foot creams, foot balm for cracked heals, foot exfoliator, a foot serum for dehydrated feet and I have gel socks to pair with my foot balm. My team and I are planning to be at different markets in Texas and Louisiana. We are getting ready to relaunch with a new look.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Patience, Perseverance and Power

Patience because so many times I ran forward looking at other people’s success and it wasn’t my time. Being impatient set me back so I had learn.

Perseverance because even if I felt tired or wanted to give up, I had to remember that there was someone looking for me, my business, my skills, my passion. I have to help people love their feet.

Power, there’s power in knowing who you are and whose you are. There’s power in having confidence in yourself and your skills. I’m powerful because I’m confident in who I am.

I am The Beauticurist!!!

What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?
The most impactful thing my parents did for me is become Entrepreneurs themselves. With their wisdom, knowledge and love for me They both inspired me to be the woman/Business woman that I am today. I had a great balance. My mom was the no nonsense business owner but extremely knowledgeable and passionate about her business, nothing stopped her.

My father was the sentimental, but also no nonsense business owner. He and his brothers built and amazing, long lasting business which is still booming today.
