We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Tabitha Watts a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Tabitha , we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
I’m still here. That’s what I tell myself when I feel like I should just quit. My body tried to take me out but I survived. I thought I was surviving on spite but it turn out Its In spite of all the obstacles I’ve faced.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I managed podcasters, I’m a contributor/cameraman/producer and I sometimes appear on camera or talk on the podcast. As of October I stepped in the ring as an announcer for the south Florida independent wrestling company CCW, I’m enjoying learning different roles with them. While I don’t have a fear of talking in front of people, there is a rush before going out in the ring or on camera for my podcasters.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Finding your people. I’ve worked many jobs where the job itself was great, but I didn’t quite fit in. My podcasters and I share a similar vision for the way we all three film. With wrestling everyone hypes each other up, we’re here for a show and your success is ours.
What has been your biggest area of growth or improvement in the past 12 months?
Learning to work with my body. I am disabled, I have crohns and a permanent ostomy. Working with yourself instead of fighting against your own good. You need balance and that includes resting as needed. Learning to use my voice as well, setting boundaries and keeping them.
