Meet Lauren White

We recently connected with Lauren White and have shared our conversation below.

Lauren, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?
My first job was that of a Front End Bagger at Whole Foods Market. I was so excited about having a job, and making my own money to buy a Nokia Cell Phone. Wow, that aged me a bit. However, my Grandfather would wake me up so early to get ready for work. So if I had to be at work by 8am he would wake me up by at least 5am. He was always at work on time, meaning before work started. It was through him, my. parents and my Grandmother that I learned the importance of a good work ethic, being on time, working hard, if I don’t know something to do the work to learn and understand what I needed to understand in order to get the job done. Not to be afraid to ask the important questions.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
By day, I am a Program Coordinator with a local hospital in their Community Health Equity and Engagement Department. Through this work, it allows me to give back to and work within my community. This work actually allows me to see my community from a different perspective. but also allows me to think of ways in which I would like to show the beauty and reality of my community through photography. Might sound cliche, but photography really is capturing a moment in time and being able to touch that moment forever. The feeling of the moment, its significance and what it represents.

Page Mack Photography was created in remembrance and honor of my dad Page Mack. My Dad was a small man, but to me he had big personality. He literally said what he meant and meant what he said. Also he loved photography, which I learned long after his passing, through the discovery of photos he had taken with friends.

At this moment, I am stepping back to refocus on my skills as a photographer and street photography which I fell in love with from the beginning.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
My advice to others would be, take your time, and move at your own pace. Your journey is your journey, not anyone else’s. So you can’t dictate your journey based on someone else’s and what they have and what they are doing. Those things will be there for you during your time. I promise they aren’t going anywhere!

To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?
The most impactful they did was believe in me and to support me through all my endeavors. But also instill in me that hard work can and will take you a long way, and with God by my side I can do all things.
