Meet Eemaan Qadri

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Eemaan Qadri. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Eemaan, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
I get a lot of my work ethic from my family. Growing up, I always watched my mom & dad be up until 2-3 am getting things done so long as they were passionate about it and wanted to spend extra time perfecting things. This translated into my everyday life – where if I have a great idea, I cannot wait until the morning to get it done. Whether its 3 PM or 3 AM, my passion motivates me to get up and get things done.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I am a multi-hyphenate artist. I began my career in content creation as just a singer/songwriter, but as I grew to love creating content, I discovered by love for filmmaking along the way. My brand consists of my solo artist career as EMA, writing pop/indie songs with my producer, Nick Phokeev. We recently wrote and released the song Afterglow, a song about moving away and starting new. Being a filmmaker as well, I brought a crew together to create a music video for Afterglow that I’m really proud of. Currently, I’m working to again, bring those two career paths together to release a short film in May with music composed and produced by me and my team!

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
My greatest advice is to put out everything you’re proud of. Even if it’s a song you abandoned halfway, don’t wait for the opportunity to put it out there, it won’t come to you. Use your resources to put out everything you love, and there will be someone out there who will resonate with it.

I felt that surrounding myself with like-minded individuals really helped me get to where I am today. There was a year back in 2020 where I found myself with a new friend group that did not have the same interests as me, and I became more and more like them. Once I broke out of that, and became friends with more creatives and content creators, my love for it grew, and as did my portfolio!

What do you do when you feel overwhelmed? Any advice or strategies?
I love picking up new hobbies every chance I get. It’s a productive way to take a moment to relax and calm yourself down from the noise around you – and can also be helpful in your future. For instance, cinematography was just a hobby for me at the start of my career, but the more I learn about lighting, camera and technology, the more I can apply it to my own career and further improve myself!
