Meet Ernesto Guerrero

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Ernesto Guerrero a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Ernesto, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?
I believe I built a strong work ethic while serving in the US Marines. While serving in the military from 2007 to 2011, you are very likely to learn a strong work ethic characterized bu discipline, dedication, and perseverance. They teach us to be punctual, reliable, and capable of working well under pressure.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
Well at this time I own 3 companies, 2 in the US and 1 in Colombia. The first one is @guerrerotrucking. It encompasses a wide range of services, from long-haul freight to local deliveries. The second one is @miamilegendary. It offers a luxurious experience on the waters of Miami, with a fleet of sleek yachts ranging from small cruisers to extravagant party boats, we cater to every occasion.
And the third one and my newest one is @guerrerocompany. It’s a premier travel and tour company based in Colombia, offering immersive experiences to explore the rich cultural heritage, breathtaking landscapes, and diverse ecosystems of the country.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Well building a business requires of many skills, but three of the most important ones for me are: Leadership, Communication and Adaptability. Being able to navigate though challenges, pivot when necessary, and continuously learn and evolve in response to market changes and feedback.

I would suggest start by leading yourself effectively, setting clear goals, managing your time, and staying motivated. As you grow, focus on developing your ability to delegate tasks, empower your team, and foster a positive work culture.

As we end our chat, is there a book you can leave people with that’s been meaningful to you and your development?
There are many books I recommend in your business journey but some of the best, that had the most important effect for me are: The power of Discipline, Rich Dad Poor Dad, and Think and Grow Rich.
