We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Chrystyan Cross a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Chrystyan, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
So to answer this question with transparency, I didn’t realize I HAD a purpose until I was already WALKING in it!
In May of 2021, I read The Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren. I treated the 40-day instruction manual as a workbook, internalizing the advice & inspiration provided. However when I was finished, I found myself saying “I still don’t know what I’m meant for.”
Fast forward to May, 2023. I now have a successful podcast which supports reproductive health/rights. I’ve become an ambassador & advocate for health equity which gave me the opportunity to speak in Washington D.C. on Capitol Hill. I am also the founder of an organization fighting for access to free menstrual products in schools & public spaces.
Who knew my personal reproductive condition (Endometriosis) would be the catalyst for FINDING MY PURPOSE?
God is amazing.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
Along with my podcast (which just reached its first year on May 21st), I have a nonprofit organization called The Ink Advocates Oklahoma City.
We are a community chapter that is working to get disposable/reusable period products to ALL menstruators in our city including the less fortunate & incarcerated. We are also actively lobbying to end the tampon tax in the state of Oklahoma.
I also just released my first book CucciTalk: Basic Sentiments for Knowing Thy Cucci! It is now available for purchase on the Lulu book publishing platform!
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Being attentive to others!
Learning how & when to say NO!
Trusting your process!
My simple advice is to DO IT SCARED!!
One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
In October I will be launching a spin-off of my podcast ThaMonthly entitled “ThaMonthly AftaDark” which is an audio-only, explicit version of the show for adults only!
I’m currently seeking mainly Women that are willing to anonymously talk “girl talk” with me!
