Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Bryson White . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Bryson , we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?
I kept the promises I made to myself. If something was hard, I did it anyway. For years I would let my anxiety run the show. I pretty much decided enough was enough and challenged myself to do anything I was scared of. For me, that was singing in front of anyone. Now I’ve played hundreds of shows and take that “anxiety” I feel and tell myself I’m just excited about it! For those still nervous about pursuing what they truly want you have to understand it’s very very uncomfortable at first. Accept that and keep moving forward.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I am a singer/songwriter. I performed gigs all across Atlanta for about 2.5 years and was able to make a living doing just that. Now I have moved to Nashville and focus more on the songwriting side of things. That said, I still try to perform a few times a month to stay sharp!
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Aside from the obvious skills like singing and playing different instruments, the most important skill is confidence. Confidence is in fact a skill that is earned through self discipline, through keeping the promises you make to yourself. If you say you’re going to do something, do it. No excuses. Do that long enough and you’ll believe in yourself. Remember, no one is going to believe in you if you don’t believe in yourself. Again, that is EARNED, it is not a personality trait.
Before we go, maybe you can tell us a bit about your parents and what you feel was the most impactful thing they did for you?
They supported anything I “tried out”. For a while I thought it was acting I wanted to do, they supported that and helped me pay for coaching. When I competed in bodybuilding shows years ago, they supported that too. When I started fully pursuing music, they were really happy as they knew that was my calling the whole time. That’s the most amazing part to me. They knew what THEY THOUGHT I WANTED, but still let me play different parts with full support; without reservation. I’m very blessed to have parents like that.
