Meet Devin Duncan

We were lucky to catch up with Devin Duncan recently and have shared our conversation below.

Devin, so excited to have you with us today. So much we can chat about, but one of the questions we are most interested in is how you have managed to keep your creativity alive.
When it comes to keeping my creativity alive my main intention is to remain authentic. Of course I utilize social media as a major part of my creativity as well, however too much social media influence can put a damper on your work as a creative. Some of my most successful drops within my clothing brand has been concepts that I was able to come up with off the dome. Creativity is defined as the use of the imagination or original ideas, especially in the production of an artistic work, However I’d define this as just simply being you. As cliche as it sounds, being yourself will always lead you to greatness.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
To formally introduce myself, my name is Devin Duncan. I am a teen entrepreneur who’s roots are just North of Mississippi. (Senatobia, MS) Many who know me know me as the owner of Goat Teez Apparel, my clothing brand that I started in 2018. Since launching my clothing brand i’ve been able to reach various accolades such as the release of my e-book and the extension of my brand, Goat Teez Fitness. My e-book, School of Business: Goat Guide to Greatness focuses on helping entrepreneurs in all aspects of the business industry. This project is probably the nearest and dearest to my heart, as it is dedicated to my late uncle, Terry Reed. Finding balance between being an entrepreneur and a full time college student has definitely been a challenge but has been a journey that teaches me something new everyday, for that I am forever grateful.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
If I were to narrow down the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that have been the most impactful in my journey I’d say Faith, Adaptability & Patience. Entrepreneurship is a journey. As a young entrepreneur I can confidently say that i’ve made just about every mistake possible. Having faith, being adaptable and learning how to be patient have all been aspects that have helped me throughout time. It took me years to get to where I am now, and there is still a long way to go. Within the business world it is essential to have a driven mindset at all times. There will be times when it feels as if your business is at a stand still or you may even feel as if competitors are succeeding more in certain areas. As an entrepreneur the focus should always be elevation and not comparison. Though it is great to recognize areas where growth is needed, never spend too much time dwelling on what could have or should have been, but instead make use of your time to evaluate and detect ways you can improve and grow into the business that you envision. Be a visionaire. Whatever your vision is, make it your priority to bring that vision into fruition. God has purpose stored upon each individual and each of our success is placed upon different times.

Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?
A book that has played an important role in my development is “The Perfect Day to Boss Up” by Rick Ross. This book is one that focuses on building an untouchable empire from mud to marble, no matter what obstacles stand in the way, and that is simply what I stand for. I aspire to have success stories such as moguls like Rick Ross, B Simone, and Will Smith just to name a few. I had the pleasure of meeting B. Simone during the summer of 2022 in which she was able to give me some very solitary advice in which i’ll never forget.
