Meet Karina Michel

We recently connected with Karina Michel and have shared our conversation below.

Karina, thank you so much for joining us. You are such a positive person and it’s something we really admire and so we wanted to start by asking you where you think your optimism comes from?
My belief is that tomorrow is always another day. Whatever happens or however bad it seems to be .. there’s always a new day and a new outlook. It’s about making that choice to be happy and knowing that you’re on the right path.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
First- thank you so much for this interview! What I do changes from day to day so much. RIght now I’m wrapping up two local documentaries and submitting them to festivals . One is about a women’s shelter and the wonderful women who run it. The past year I’ve revived my acting career – which kind of happened by accident- but I’m so happy to be back and doing what I love to do.
On most days you can find me with my two girls – It’s a lot of driving to events and volunteering. I love being a part of their lives and helping them reach their goals as well.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
3 skills.. I would say being curious and reading anything you can – I love to read and almost take an investigative approach for either roles I’m playing or documentaries I’m taking on. Resilience, which for me gets easier. Only worry about what you can control.

Knowing that success isn’t just about luck. It’s being prepared for when that something does come up you are so prepped and ready you take it head on and don’t have time to worry about it. You just relax and focus on the work and having fun.

To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?
My parents and my family were always hugely supportive in my dreams. There wasn’t a lot of negative talk. They believed in me and always told me to go for it. I still have a card they had delivered with flowers to me when I first went to New York when I was in high school. It reminds me of how far I’ve come and what can be accomplished.
