Meet Cristina Muñoz Soto

We were lucky to catch up with Cristina Muñoz Soto recently and have shared our conversation below.

Cristina, thank you so much for making time for us. We’ve always admired your ability to take risks and so maybe we can kick things off with a discussion around how you developed your ability to take and bear risk?
As an adult, my journey towards developing risk-taking skills was a gradual process. Throughout my life, I was always one to follow the rules and fulfill expectations rather than live my life authentically. It wasn’t until I experienced burnout after years of teaching that I mustered the courage to take my first significant risk and leave the profession I had diligently pursued for a completely new field, marketing. At that time, my courage came from my desire for a balanced life, and now my courage is driven by curiosity. The need for growth and evolution moves me forward, recognizing that true progress lies outside of my comfort zone.

Now when I begin to think of the worst-case scenario and feel stuck with fear, I take a step back and acknowledge that the fear of the unknown never goes away. I’ve realized that courage isn’t the absence of fear but the willingness to take risks in spite of it. So now, I’ve cultivated a deep trust in my own ability to navigate through life’s worst-case scenarios and anchor myself in the belief that I can overcome any challenge. I don’t let fear stop me anymore and remind myself of everything I could gain from taking action and moving forward.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
Hi! I’m Cristina Munoz Soto and I own the social media marketing agency, Social by Cristina. I’m a social media manager supporting local business owners and transforming their online business presence.

I transitioned from teaching to corporate marketing years ago and it was the best decision I could have made. After being in the marketing field for a family of brands, I have taken what I have learned and started my own social media marketing agency. The reason for the transition was so I could give back to my community and help make a local and direct difference. My mission is to help business owners reclaim their time, expand their reach, and most importantly, help hard-working business owners make an impact and build an online presence they are proud of.

I respect the uniqueness and authenticity of each business I work with and I’m here to support my client’s big vision. My biggest joy comes from bringing their passion and vision to life, acting as a bridge between them and their audience. I want my clients to feel understood, heard, and empowered. I get to support other people pursuing their dreams while I get to do the same, how great is that??

Exciting developments are on the horizon. I am eagerly anticipating the launch of my website and the introduction of a specialized social media package designed specifically for cafes and restaurants. Stay tuned for more!

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Ambition, a growth mindset, and gratitude have been essential in my life journey.

Ambition has always driven me forward, even through tough times as a first-generation, DACA Latina. It’s like a guiding light, helping me take one step at a time towards my goals. My advice? Imagine where you want to be and focus on the small steps to get there. You are here for a reason, give yourself a chance to flourish, stay consistent, and don’t give up on your dreams too soon.

I truly believe life is the way you see it. A growth mindset for me is believing in myself to continuously adapt and evolve. There is so much peace and beauty in growing even if your growth looks different every day. This kind of mindset has allowed me to be excited about life because I know I’m in charge of my future and my future is ever-evolving just like me. I’m no longer afraid to make mistakes because I get to learn from them and use that knowledge to reach my next success. My biggest advice to create a growth mindset is to be kind to yourself and practice daily affirmations.

Lastly, I’m grateful to my parents for teaching me the value of gratitude. It’s a powerful tool that can change the whole trajectory of my day. When things get tough, I remind myself of all the good things in my life, like having clean water, food, and people who care about me. This positive energy attracts better things into my life every single time. Gratitude, I believe, is truly the key to a happy life.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
I’m excited to team up with motivated business owners eager to make a difference in their community. I’m drawn to individuals with ambitious aspirations who put in the effort for themselves and their loved ones. While I specialize in the food industry, I’m open to partnering with all family-owned and locally-owned businesses ready to take their enterprise to the next level and reclaim their time. If you’re interested in working together, simply fill out the interest form on my Instagram @socialbycristina. I’d be thrilled to chat with you and craft a customized plan tailored to your specific business needs.
