We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Matthew Corozine. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Matthew below.
Hi Matthew , we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?
I think we all have an emotional home and like a thermostat are set a certain temperature for confidence and self esteem. for example if you think your 80 percent confidant person you will never go to low or to high from 80 percent. so how do we increase our confidence and self esteem….by being our word. integrity. setting small achievable goals like getting up early every day and journaling for 30 days. then your identity starts to shift and you become someone who does the hard things, who does the things they say they will do. start small grow from there. for years my emotional home was stress, anger and frustration and that motivated me to take action and build a business now im conscious and have had a paradigm shift that no longer serves me and gets me more of what I already have. To hit my new goals and dreams I needed to shift my emotional home —-now its finding the joy, fullfilment and increasing dopamine in the struggle….knowing this is building future me, letting go of old thoughts and belief systems that dont serve me and replacing them with new ones. all of this builds your confidence and self – esteem.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I created Matthew Corozine Acting Studio & Theatre back (MCS)in 2000 when as a then struggling actor, needed a home for myself. Always felt different, separate, apart, an old narrative I believed that “if you really new me , you would reject me.” thus, rejecting myself at a early age–wanting to escape, living in fantasy so of course I went into acting so I could “play other characters’ . little did I know that I was longing to play myself. not the self that got divided/split and the mask I was playing to survive life, but to integrate all the parts of me that I separated. the Meisner technique, that I know have been teaching for the last 24 years completely transformed my life. it reunited and integrated all the human parts of me that I split when I was a kid. I now, get to coach, direct and work with actors and executives connecting them to their truth and vulnerability –and helping them bring their authenticity and voice to their work and life. essentially getting them out of their own way and what stops them. I wrote and narrated my first book in 2022 IF YOU SURVIVED 7TH GRADE, YOU CAN BE AN ACTOR (Applying the Meisner Technique to get outta your head in Acting and in life). MCS now has locations in Miami, LA and online reaching an international market of actors and artist.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
telling the truth which requires vulnerability. to really admit what you love, what turns you on, what you feel you were created for.
learning how the mind works–developed to protect you and becoming conscious of the thoughts in your mind and which ones to believe and which stories to re write.
life is happening for you not to you. find the new meaning. meaning creates emotions and emotions run our life. being a conscious of how I feel, think and act and reprogramming patterns and new habits that SERVE myself, others and my work.
