Meet Donna Morris

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Donna Morris a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Donna, we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?

In celebrating the transformative power of the Word of God in my life, I acknowledge its pivotal role in paving the path for my journey towards confidence and self-esteem. I am grateful and humbled to share in your Bold Journey Feature to talk about the goodness of God in my life. Here are three key elements that have propelled me along this transformative journey.

:Speaking Affirmations through Scripture:

I intentionally declare positive affirmations in my life, replacing negative self-talk with what God’s word says about me. Speaking victory over my life and circumstances, despite challenges, brings me great joy. “Thanks be to God who has given me the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” – Corinthians 15:57. God’s Word has helped me cultivate a mindset of positivity and self-worth.

Walking in Faith and Stepping Out of Comfort Zones:

I am certain that God has been with me in every season of my life, giving me the courage to walk this bold journey of faith. Regardless of distractions or fears, I’have chosen to leave my comfort zone behind. Walking in obedience to God has led to personal growth and bold confidence.

Continuous Learning and Self-Development:

My self-confidence has grown as I have embraced learning opportunities and invested in myself. On this journey of a renewed mindset, it has helped me to discover a better version of myself. Since I have decided to let go of limited beliefs concerning money I have become more confident about myself and  that has propelled me to invest in coaching.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

Sharing my story is a reminder that God is all powerful and He is still able to transform minds and bring restoration.

My journey is one of transformation, faith, and empowerment. For years, I battled with limitations in the mind, feeling trapped in a cycle of insecurities and self-doubt. Growing up on the beautiful island of Jamaica, I lived with my mother who had separated from my father because of the physical abuse she had experienced. Despite these challenges, my mother’s unwavering love and strong faith instilled in me the importance of hard work and a personal relationship with God.

The truth is, when you are unaware of how impoverished thoughts can keep you stuck in your comfort zone, it will cause you to live a life of mediocrity .
I experienced challenges with doubts and fears while going to school and I was always behind the scenes. Even in adulthood the limited mindset caused me to live in a one room quad for over two decades without doing any home improvement.

In 2017, I experienced a powerful encounter with the word of God that sparked a profound mind shift. In fact the reality was, when a visiting preacher’s sermon inspired me to shift my perspective and to make a move to do home improvement.
Embracing this new mindset, I broke free from the constraints of my past and embarked on a journey of transformation.

It is my pleasure to encourage individuals to leave the comfort zone and choose to live their best life beginning in the mind

Welcoming this new level of thinking, propelled me to take bold steps towards, investing in self-development and embracing a growth mindset. This newfound mindset also led me to do marriage mentoring and then further enrolled in a nine weeks online course,  entitled ” Mind Renewal ” where I wrote my first book, “Moved to a New Mindset: Free from Limitations, Rejections, and Fears.” Today, I stand in victory as a best-selling author of four books, a speaker, minister, marriage mentor, and certified life coach.
This is the Lord’s doing, it is marvellous in our eyes. Psalms 118:23

My journey of transformation didn’t stop at being a published author. I further invested in building my author brand by joining the Author CEO Academy, a thriving community that helps impact-driven authors increase their book sales, visibility, and global brand. Through my enthusiasm and positivity, I inspire others to overcome limited beliefs and embrace abundance. My message is clear: transformation begins in the mind, and by shifting our mindset, you can live victorious lives that honor God.
I celebrate the goodness of God by walking in faith and continuous growth.
Knowing that everything begins in the mind and the impact of my message will undoubtedly be felt for years to come.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Celebrating God’s faithfulness on my journey brings me immense joy. Reflecting on this journey, three areas of knowledge have been particularly impactful:

Faith: Maintaining my personal relationship with God’s Word has allowed me to persevere through difficult times and embrace new opportunities with confidence. My advice for those early in their journey is to prioritize nurturing their faith through prayer, scripture study, and surrounding themselves with a supportive Kingdom family.

Mindset: Shifting my mindset from one of limitation to one of abundance was transformative. Identifying and challenging negative thought patterns allowed me to demolish mind barriers and pursue my goals.  For those at the beginning of their journey, I recommend that you invest in personal development resources such as books, courses, and coaching that focus on mindset.

Continuous Learning:
Embracing a mindset of lifelong learning has been instrumental in my growth and development. Seeking out opportunities to expand my knowledge and skill set enabled me to adapt to seize opportunities for personal and professional advancement. My advice to those starting their journey is to remain focused and actively seek out opportunities for growth and learning. Whether through formal coaching, mentorship, or personal study, committing to continuous learning will fuel personal and professional growth.

Before we go, maybe you can tell us a bit about your parents and what you feel was the most impactful thing they did for you?

Despite the separation of my parents, the most impactful thing they did for me was maintaining unity among my siblings. They both played active roles in our lives, demonstrating unwavering love and dedication.

My mother, a true reflection of a woman with a wealthy mind, chose to take me with her instead of leaving me behind when she separated from my father. She exemplified faith in action, showing the power of prayer and trust in God’s plan for my life.

Despite my father’s absence in my early life, He was very responsible in assisting with anything that my mother would ask him for concerning me. I learned valuable lessons about forgiveness, love, and empathy.

Together, their love for their children laid the groundwork for my journey of personal strength and resilience.
