Meet Caitlyn Morgan

We were lucky to catch up with Caitlyn Morgan recently and have shared our conversation below.

Caitlyn, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?
I believe I get my worth ethic from my grandmother and grandfather. My grandparents raised me and my two brothers. Things weren’t always easy, but from a young age they instilled in me, is if you want something YOU have to work for it. You’re the only person that can change that for yourself. They taught me discipline and to follow through with things. They also taught me to not give up on the things I did want.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I am a tattoo artist of three years, currently located in San Diego Ca. Originally from southeast Missouri. . One of the most special things about this lifestyle is the amount of time it takes, and effort is put in to pushing yourself to be the best version of you.
Tattooing isn’t just a job for a lot of artists, it’s an entire lifestyle. It starts to consume every part of your everyday. It’s something special, exciting and sometimes frustrating, but we are in charge of creating lifelong memories and art for people. It’s such an honor to be trusted with something so precious.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
I think still to this day continuing to practice, self discipline, patience and an ability to accept when you have made a mistake, and push forward from that. Many of times very early on and even sometimes now I forget to take a breath and take things slow, and remember these things.

What has been your biggest area of growth or improvement in the past 12 months?
I think I have grown by learning to take things slow. Working and learning at your pace and reallly understanding what’s in front of you rather than trying to push to get to this point you see someone else at. Remembering you aren’t anyone else but yourself and your journey may look different.
