Meet courtney quinlan

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Courtney Quinlan a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Courtney, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?
My parents have both been very hard workers. They set a very good example for me as I watched them grind all the time when I was growing up. I have always been a high achiever, but their influence was a large reason for it.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I own Midwest Matchmaking, the Midwest’s largest boutique Matchmaking agency. We have been servicing the Midwest for 16 years. Our team works with busy and selective singles who are serious about finding their person. We meet and screen all potential clients face to face to make sure the clients meet the criteria we are seeking and that we feel the service is a good mutual fit. We offer many services that benefit singles seeking a partner, including matchmaking, coaching and singles events.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Patience, Perseverance, and Adaptability

Starting a business takes time and it’s a process. You cannot expect to have it all figured out overnight. Patience is key.

You have to have grit, drive and passion for what you’re doing. It’s not easy and it take a lot of work. Do not give up on your dreams and realize that if it was that easy, everyone would be doing it.

Startups are a neverending work in progress. They require constant change with the times, and as a business owner you must be able to adapt as your business is growing and undergoing changes.

What do you do when you feel overwhelmed? Any advice or strategies?
I ask others whose opinions I value for advice. I don’t know everything so I hire people who can do things better than I can in the areas that I am not great in. Having a supportive and strong team is key to the growth and development of any good company. I would be a fool to not ask my trusted employees and mentors for their opinions. It’s very important to be humble and know that you don’t always have the right answer for everything. Rely on others to help! Rely on yourself to handle the areas of the business in which you are very strong.
