Meet Alexandra Fischerstrom

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Alexandra Fischerstrom. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Alexandra below.

Alexandra, so happy to have you with us today. You are such a creative person, but have you ever head any sort of creativity block along the way? If so, can you talk to us about how you overcame or beat it?
I have definitely encountered my fair share of creativity blocks! I try my best to listen to myself and give myself a break when I feel one coming on and shift my focus to other tasks that I can work on in the meantime. I have found that it’s important to not force yourself to work on something creative if you are not feeling up to it.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I have been running a swimwear business (LEVA apparel) since 2020. All pieces are handmade by myself. The focus of my brand is quality, timelessness, and sustainability; I strive to create pieces that can be worn and enjoyed for several vacations and beach days to come due to their timeless yet modern designs and use of premium materials. I am passionate about the creative process of designing and creating every single piece – it is such a fun creative outlet! I recently launched my 2023 collection which can be found at levaapparel.com

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
The top three qualities/skills that come to mind are: perseverance, resilience, and problem solving. Even though I have a lot of fun running my business and creating my pieces, it can be very challenging at times and I have run into many unexpected obstacles. It has been very important to practice these qualities and skills in order to work through tough situations and problems.

Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?
My family and close friends have been (and still are) extremely supportive and helpful when I have faced challenges. They have always cheered me on and been there for me for advice, talking through ideas, and giving feedback. I am very grateful to have so much support!
