We recently connected with M. A. Ramos and have shared our conversation below.
M. A., we are so happy that our community is going to have a chance to learn more about you, your story and hopefully even take in some of the lessons you’ve learned along the way. Let’s start with self-care – what do you do for self-care and has it had any impact on your effectiveness?
My self-care routine involves stepping away from the daily hustle and immersing myself in the great outdoors. When life feels overwhelming, I seek solace in nature through camping or backpacking trips. Whether it’s a brief weekend getaway or a longer week-long excursion, I find refuge in disconnecting from the chaos of the world, while reconnecting to myself and nature. Being outdoors allows me to recharge and center myself. Surrounded by the tranquility of nature, I can quiet my mind and reflect on the challenges I face. It’s during these moments of solitude that I often have profound insights and revelations. By the time I return, I feel rejuvenated and ready to tackle whatever life throws my way. My outdoor adventures not only provide a much-needed escape but also offer invaluable opportunities for self-discovery and growth.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
Honestly, summing up my role is a bit of a challenge because I’m deeply immersed in a variety of pursuits. From leading as the CEO of A.M.T.A.E. Solutions LLC to embracing my love for the outdoors and even serving as an ordained minister in the Universal Life Church, my interests are vast and varied.
Everything I do reflects my passions and my relentless drive to pursue them. I like to think of myself as an artist, with the human experience as my canvas. I’ve always gravitated towards activities that push me beyond my comfort zone or provide an outlet for self-expression, as words often fail to fully capture the depth of my emotions.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Reflecting on my journey, three qualities stand out as profoundly impactful: my strength of will, tenacity, and adaptability. Life has been a constant whirlwind of change, and my ability to adapt has kept me flexible and in flow. I’ve learned to roll with the punches, shifting course as needed to avoid feeling stifled by the unexpected.
Moreover, my unwavering determination and resilience have propelled me forward in the face of daunting challenges. While others may see obstacles, I see opportunities, and I’ve never shied away from putting in the hard work to turn my aspirations into reality. When the going gets tough, I dig my heels in even deeper, pushing through adversity with unwavering resolve.
In fact, I credit much of my success to these qualities. For those embarking on their own journey, my advice is simple: never lose sight of your “why.” When faced with setbacks, reconnect with your purpose and let it guide you. It’s easy to feel discouraged, but remembering what you’re striving for gives you the inner strength to persevere.
Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?
“Tao Te Ching” by Lao Tzu has had a profound impact on my personal growth. It’s more than just a book; it’s been a guiding force shaping my behaviors and outlook on life. The title itself, “The Book of the Way and its Power,” perfectly captures its essence. I’ve found invaluable teachings that resonate deeply with me. While there are numerous gems to be found in its pages, there are a few impactful nuggets of wisdom which stand out for me. They are: “The highest good is like that of water. The goodness of water is that it benefits the ten thousand creatures; yet itself does not scramble, but is content with the places that all men disdain. It is this that makes water so near the Way.” and “To understand others is to have knowledge; To understand oneself is to be illuminated. To conquer others needs strength; To conquer oneself is harder still.”
